REDDING ENDORSED FOR SHERIFF BERTH R. W. ROSENBAUM WITHDRAWS FROM 8HRIEYALITY CAMPAIGN; JOSEPH DOUGLASS ANNOUNCES CANDIDACY; AARON W. HAND IS CANDIDATE FOR ASSEMBLY; ROSENBAUM SLATED TO uPPOSE FITCH FOR SURROGATE

At a meeting of the "Independent" Republican organisation of Cape May County on Monday night, the fate of the Sheriff - * office was decided by a flip of the coin. After wrangling for two hours over tbe merits of tbe two candidates for Sheriff, R. W. Rosenbaum and George Redding, which were before the meeting. It was decided that a coin should be tossed and which ever lost should withdraw and become the candidate for Surrogate, leaving the field clear for a straight two-comer fight between the Independents anl the candidate, ot the Hildreth organisation. The coin waa tosaed, and Redding won. Hence all of the work done by Mr. Rosenbaum la hto own behalf for the past six months to tort, aad Redding to the Independent candidate for Sheriff. To somewhat lessen the blow to tbe unlucky toeer, Mr. Rosenbaum was offered the backing of the organisation for the office of Surrogate. and he will probably oppose Irving Fitch. Other polltlesJ developments ot the week are the announcement of Attorney Joseph Douglass, of Cape May Court House, as a candidate for Sheriff, and former County Superintendent of Schools. Aaron W. Hand, as a candidate for the Assembly. Douglass will, of course, be opposed by Redding tor the nomination, while Hand stands unopposed as yet. No Democratic ticket has as yet been launched, and rumor has It that there will be none, other than that of Cole—n F. Corson, for Sheriff. The Democrats would like at least one Freeholder, but no one has as yet betn brought forth.
