OOEAJ* CITT— Move than seventy ardent workers la the interest of the new Flanders Botel, of Ocean City, attended a dinaer at the Fleetwood Hotel last Friday night and heard brief hut highly pertinent talks by fellow workers OB the constructional progreea. need of immediate payments on stock subscriptions and future plana for the ••pride of Ocean City.” An excellent dinner proceeded the talks. The Fleetwood culinary artists are to be congratulated on the dinner placed before and rapidly consumed by those guests present. On •very >hand praise was heard. Appreciation of the good cooking and equally good service was unstinted and spoken of often. J. Howard Slocum presided at the discussion following the meal, and delivered himself of a few well chosen remarks prior to introducing
speakers.
Slocum touched on the contemplated beauty of the Flemish room in the hotel, the immense amount of detail work necessary to draw up the final plans, and the Interested cooperation extended on behalf of the architect. Belmont Steel Company, and others officially connected with the primary stages of the building construction and erection. Slocum pointed out that workmen contemplate completing the steel % framework during the week of February 1, 1923. The erection of steel Store framework la looked for during the first two weeks of February. Dr. Allen Corson was then cal on and spoke- of the need of Ocean City for a botel, urged the speedy completion of the proposed structure and the prompt payments on stock mbecriptions as they fell due. "Talk about your hotel. Defend It. > We've sold ouraelrea to our own hotel- We must believe In It. We are traveling in untrodden aeaa untouched soil. The day la coming when the Flanders will be but a chain of establishments equally as good." Dr. Corson stated. _ Harry Headley, chairman of the building committee, was then given the floor and called attention to the rapid work on the piles, executed by Workmen of the Raymond Construction Company, and how the piling work was completed ahead of time, thus permitting the Belmont concern tc begin work at once. “At first we thought It beet to drive wooden piles, but found that concrete will prove better In the long run for the same cost that wooden ones would have reached,” Headley Stated, "and now we are In a position to go ahead with further con-
•truction."
There are to be 239 bed rooms for rent, with seventy-four private baths. , every room being equipped with running hot and cold water and a private wuah room. There will be a swimming pool thirty by sixty feet. A laundry will be installed on the ground floor of Lrcksley Hall, which will also be used as quarters for the hotel servants. Stores will be built In front of Locksley Hall, It Is said. It Is planned to heat the lower floor and the south wing of the hotel so that guests may remain throughout
the winter months.
William E. Massey, chairman of the executive committee, and major apeaker for the evening, struck the keynote of the evening by hurling the challenge into the group of team captains, committee chairmen and
team workers to—
"Take off our coats and go work for ten days at least. Realise that the degree of responsibility rests on our shoulders. Look at Atlantic City. Her hotels are filled. Ocean City is next. She will not be beaten down. We will have special trains coming here very soon. We have in hand {469,200 in subscriptions.
There will be some shrinkage but | this project will probably run well MR

expressed very favorable and promised to co-operate as -tor as hie office would allow In market In that town. The famous Longport Atlantic City ia to be repied, with certain modifications. J. Rodgeni. who was one of tbe founders of that enterprise, and Frank Swain formed a committee to Investigate the conditions and learn if the plan met with the approval of tbe farmers. After receiving a favorable report, It was decided that the matter wouM be thoroughly discussed when all the Grangers meet at the next Pomona
meeting.
Only legitimate fanners Will enjoy the privileges of tbe market. The salient featuree of the project that are attractive to both consumer and producer are the purchasers are sure of buying fresh products directly from the farm and are able to select from a wider variety than usual. The prices are set by the Market Master, based on the market quotation which prevents excessive profits and the farmer receives the actual value due him. The consumer.and fanner save the difference in the delivering costs. The farmer Is able to dispose of hia load in half the usual time, allowing him to devote more time cn the farm when he needs it most. As
