Horton had been out hunting ducks and rabbits on Monday afternoon. in the meadows near Fiftyfourth street, between Central and Asbury avenues. Gun shots were heard by nelghbora shortly after three o’clock In the afternoon. Guards at the coast station expeetHorton to come on duty at 3:46 o'clock, but when he failed to appear they became worried and a searching party of guards, police sad ana. set out to locate the lag man. Shortly after eight o'clock Monday night. Horton’s body was fouhd near a (dump of bushes, his gun by his side and gun shot wounds In chin, neck and face. Horton resided with his wife and small child at 3o7 Asbury avenue in Ocean City. He was quite popular among the Coast Guard attaches and his death Is considered a great loss. An honorary escort from the Coast Guards was furnished and many friends gathered for the funeraL New York man’s wife was visiting out west. He wrote her saying: "My Treasure. In the report It was stated that a charge of twenty-five cents per person per hour Is assessed against players and that of the total of 3,133 persons who mads use of the courts, 639 were women. The total expenditures for the season, which opened In August, listed at 8938.71. Total receipts for the courts. 9952.50. There are eight oourta In use during the season and ail are considered excellent for players, being of a sandy clay surface. In addition this committee reported that a system of keeping track of the players had been enforced so that the home and foreign addrees of every player who went on the courts last year. Is at hand.
