TAX DODGERS WIH OUT The tax-dodging counties of Hew Jersey have apparently won ont in their fight to make the property assessed counties pay the burden of their educational costs. The bill providing for a redistribution of State School moneys, which will cost Cape May County about 170.000 a year and Atlantic County over {250.000. has passed the Senate, and will soon go over to the Assembly for final adoption. Cape May County should raise a storm of protest loud enough to echo through every comer of the legislative halls of Trenton against this nefarious piece of legislation, which is nothing short of robbery on the pan of under-valued and under-assessed counties from counties truly assessed, j and where the tax burden is already more than many property owners feel | they can bear. There is still the hope that the hill will be defeated in the House of Assembly, where the high taxpcying counties have more representation than they have in the Senate. And this hope being lost there is still the hope that the injustice and rank unfairness of the measure will appeal to the fairness and better judgment of Governor Sixer, and he will veto

the law.

The thought of uader-asaessed cities like Millville. Bridgeton. Vineland. Burlington and Mt Holly in adjoining counties inaching down in the pockets of Cape May County taxpayers to help pay to run their schools rankles, and every effort should be mode to prevent the proposed law froci becoming effective It does not have the approval of the State Board of Edncatien. the highest educational body in the State, and it certainly does not meet with tic approval of the taxpayers in counties like Hudson. Essex. Passaic. Atlantic and Cape May. where the burden will fall heaviest.

THE HEW W00DBIHE ROAD

The affioaL and taxpayer* of Woodbine are asking the County to tike ever and construct the nod from Sea Isle Junction to Monnt Flensaxt, to afford the Borough access by auto to the Junction, where all express trains stop At pnoent Woodbine is without express train service, and it is felt that this condition is seriously retarding the town’s progress industrially. The request would appear to be a very reasonable one. especially as the Borough is willing to meet the County half way. and maintain the road from Meant Pleasant to the corporate limits of the town Woodbine appears to hove a bright future from a ■ point. Within the past few meaths several i there, and it is the home of what promises soon to be one of the portent of the Kate institutions. Two and ooe-half miles sepaiate the town from secern to the only express train service s rails hie. and it weald appear that the County would be fully justified in giaxting the reqnt^L
