Ocean City’s present telephone service is to be greatly Increased by the Installation ot seventeen modem switchboards, according to an announcement made this week by Waiter Boot, wire chief of the resort telephone exchange. The seventeen new switchboards will take the place of the nine, which at present control the shore telephone service, and It will mean the addition of e'ght more ’*HeUo Girls" to this exchange. Although ground was to have been broken Monday for the new 1500.000 Ocean Ctiy High School, an official announ.emert by Secretary Henry W. Townsend, of the Ocean City; Board of Education, stated that the 1 cold wave and lack of equipment had i made it necessary for the J. 8. Rodgers Company, of Philadelphia, to postpone operations for almost e week. The new higher institution of learning, which will be one of the most modem in South Jersey, la to be situated on the Old Camp Ground between Fifth and Sixth street on Atlantic avenue facing the ocean.
