News Notes of County Farmers Itemi of Interest to the Agricoltnnl Workers;'Doings on the Farms By J. A. Stackhouse, Agent Hints Don’t forget to send to cold storage what late potato seed you wish to plant this coming July. You’11 probably increase your stand lOO^t. Soak early seed potatoes 30 minutes in four ounces of corrosive sublimate to 30 gallons of water. The treatment will not hurt the sprouts and it will kill, on the seed, s rhisoctonia and black-leg. Apply your delayed dottnant spray on apples as soon as the apple leaf buds show silvery and have the spray completed before the tiny leaves stick through one fourth of an inch. If you find shiny black aphis eggs or the young aphids on the buds you should add three Quarters of one pint of nicotine sulfate to 50 gallons of your spray material. The recommended spray material for now is 5 gallons of concentrated lime sulfrr solution in <5 gallons of water. If you would try the veneer bands tor helping you to keep up with your neighbor In getting early cantaloupes. you had better get from your dealer or co-operative association the neceesary 4x4x3 bands. F1H the bands with line manure and soil, ■lace in cold frames and about three to tour weeks before the time for plan11 ng the seed In the open field, plant the seed In the bands. The New Jersey Experiment Station found by placing the well started plants In the field after the danger of frost was over, ten to fifteen days war* gained In eailfer ripening. UEW HIGHWAY BOARD HOW GETTIHQ BUSY Azoroves Issuance of $6,000,001 Eoad and $2 '100.000 Bridge Bonds The State Highway Commission last Friday appiz*vtfd the Issuance of $“.000,000 highway and $2,000,000 bridge bonds for the year’a road progr The State House Commission will offer $4,000,000 In bonds for Mle July 1. ><nd the balance for $4,000.-! 000 on January 1. 1»24. Each offering will consist of $1,000,000 road and $1,000,000 bridge bonds. The road bonds are for fifteen years and the bridge securities of not more than thirty years. Cumberland freeholders were informed by the board that it would not take over the several road route bills of the Legislature until foranal resolutions were adop’ed. This will also probably effept tne proposed extension of Route 4. by way of Somers Point to Beesley’s Point. HEW TRESPASS LAW FOR FARMERS AHD HUHTERS Throughout the State, sentiment of farmers and sportsmen appear to be better satisfied with a new trespass act. passed by the Legislature and signed by Governor SUxer. which eliminates some of the objectionable features found In previous legislation and which it is predicted, creates a more amicable relatlonshop through which land-owners and hunters wtl! come to a fuller appreciation of end other's interests. The law "till retains the provision that failure to procure a written pew*.;: frer: "-**■ or occupant of a farm that U posted shall constitute prima fade evidence of guilt In the event of prosecution, but it dkntnatee a previous stipulation that half of the penalty Imposed should go to the plaintiff. It Is claimed that the new law. by increasing the penalty for datructloo of property to $500, affords the farmer better protection for the small but troublesome element among hunters, whose actions hare sometimes jeopardized the repute of even the lawabiding sportsmer. The new law also protects the sportsmen, by providing that say fine or penalty. In Its entirety, shall go to the State,

from a similarly small and non-repre-sentative class of farmers who tried to use the old ires peas act to annoy and gouge hunters. FREE FOR THE TAKING—OLD i.c-spapers. while they last; Just the thing to put under carpets. ' WTm '" a Office.
