By your splendid work you have demonstrated what an enterprising young woman can do. Mr. A. H. Sapp, of Petersburg, captured the second prlte. a Ford Roadster. We greet you Mr. Sapp and extend the hand of good fellowship. To you goes the credit of securing more subscriptions from Cape May County than any other candidate. You made a wonderful record having gone over the county like a fine tooth comb, and succeeded In placing the paper in the homes of hundreds of sub-

scribers.

Mrs. Isyl Clouting, who resides near Cape May Court House Is now the owner of a Simplex Radio Outfit the result of honest. earnest effort. She has fought a gojd battle against big odds and can be proud to come In a winner, as her laurels were the result of hard, conscientious endeavor. Mr. Chas. P. Proffatt. of Ocean City, was so cloee on Miss CloutIng’s heels that she could hear his foototepe behind her. It Is hard Mr. Proffatt. to so nearly reach a goal, but we know you are a good loser and will add your congratulations to ours, wishing Him Clouting much Joy in her new poesesslon. To all our contestants we want to tender our sincere thanks and to assure them of our appreciation of their efforts. This has been a spirited conteat: the candidates rising with each other for first place in good natureo rirxh, and any little differences that m.vy have arose will soon be forgotun. To the public who so generously supported the candidate* with their subscriptions we owe s sincere vote of thanks and It will be our earnest endeavor to keep our paper up to Its present nigh standard, so that It may ever be a welcome weekly visitor In your homes, and that when -your subscriptions expire

In Ocean City an effort was mad to make an open and closed Sunda an Issue but most of the candidate agreed on the Issue with slight modi ficatlons. The outstanding featur of the election was the lack of stroni candidates who were willing to risl locking horns with the old admlnls tretton. Dr. J. The majority of the voters ol Avalon did not hesitate to endorse the old Commissioners and they were easy winners. No local issues of an* consequence entered the fight. Only five candidates entered the field. Eo. B. Becker and Seamin 0 Wentxell were the losers.

A real con tret developed In Cape May aty. Twelve candidates entered the field and the majority of them worked strenuously for the tonors. When I visited the town on Monday both the usual and unusual methods of vote getting were in fall sway. Propaganda '-otn Insinuating ■oeter* to verbal accusations flew back and forth. The elecUon of Wentrell. Mecray and Davis was in reality a victory for the progrerelve element of the town. The iasure were somewhat Jouded and voters were guided by their knowledge of the candidates' ability and popularity. The defeat of William R. Sheppard ts a keen disappointment to bis many friends. Sheppard I always considered one of the highest type officials In the county. The election marks the passing of Frederick Melvin. the former Mayor, as s political factor.Mayor Melvin has held many county offices. He was persuaded by his friends not to allow his name filed as s contestant as It was apparent his age and health would prevent him from capably filling an office of this description.

Regardless of all the splendid tributes paid the New Jersey State Police It becomes apparent that this body can take a tip or two from the Pennsylvania State Police. To gain the cooperation of the public the State Troopers must get Us respect Instead of its animosity. Frequent unpleashappenlnga, detrimental to the State Troopers, have been brought to the public’s attention recently. One of which was when two troopers arrested a town traffic officer when he expostulated after they Ir^mored hto signal to atop. They surety can’t >t> pose 4)
