MATING WILLS IS IMPORTANT BUSINESS
There are three epochal things In a man's life—he Is born, he possibly weds and dies. Oh, yes! There is one more. He makes a will, if he has anything to will. Being born and getting married and dying Is not such particular business but every man should be careful how be makes his will. The complications th»t arise from Interpretation of wills are sometimre amusing. It was so in Hudson County last week when Vice-Chancellor James F. Fielder, the former Governor. was called upon to reverse the probate of s will which had been ordered by Judge McCar. iy In the
Orphans' Court.
Vice-Chancellor Fielder said that the sentimental wording of the will was all bosh, purely the invention of the lawyers. The will went on to say that the testator bequeathed all he possessed to "my loyal daughter Henrietta, who haa always so filially, faithfully .and loyally cared for and attended me many years last past." It was shown that the testator made his will when he was dying and had little if any knowledge of what was going on. The lawyers put all the
gush in the will.
There was another feature of this will which is interesting. Five lawyers presented bills against the estate. One lawyer had a bill of 12500, another 81500. and the total amounted to about $5000. The entire estate
amounted only to $16,000.
Not only did the lawyers get the Orphans' Cov-t Judge to admit the will to probate but they got him to allow the counsel fees. Vice-Chan-cellor Fielder upset both. He said he was "surprised and amased” at the extremely liberal allowance of Judge McCarthy, considering that the estate was so small. He thereupon cut the high man down $500. the next $300 and the rest $100 each. Hla action sort of pu! Judge McCarthy and the five lawyers In bad.

Xm. FINAL ACCOUNTING
The speeches which the late President Harding delivered on his western trip were really a report of progress covering the two years and four months of his administration. Nobody real I red that they were the final accounting of hls stewardship, but had Mr. Harding known In advance that the end was near he would have followed closely the lines of hls addresses as he actually wrote them. In relating what had already been accomplished -and In making recommendations for the future. Mr. Harding marked a course that leads to the highest realisation of American ideals.
