Street Parade Is a Feature
The Annual State Convention of the American Legion and Women’s Auxiliary, held In W .dwood last. Thursday. Friday and Saturday, waa attended by delegations representing every county In the State Philip Forman, of Trenton, was unanimously elected State Commander for the coming year. Mrs. Frank R. Sheppard will preside over the Auxiliary. The convention next year will be
held In Newark.
The city authorities and buainea» men lent every effort to make the affair u success. The streets and business bouse* were appropriately decorated and the Legionnaires had the run, of the town. The efforts of the Mayor. Courtrlght Smith, were appreciated by the visitors and he was greeted with an ovation wher-»

Governor George Silxer addressed the Legionnaires on Friday. On Friday evening the side order of the Legion, the 40 and 8. convened. Thla order to of fun provoking nature. All the Initiations and ceremonials were not conducted behind closed doors. The throngs that packed the resort were greatly amused by the ridiculous antics that the candidates were foi eed to perform on the street.
Parade a Feature
On Saturday afternoon the Leglonilree and Women’s Auxiliary formed at Cream Avenue, Wildwood Crest, end marched through the business section. The parade waa over a mile In length. Michaei Sheehan, of Wildwood, the Marshall of tjre parade. wee followed by the City Commissioner. the Wildwood Police and the parade committee of Byron Pennington Poet, of Wildwood. The band from the battleship Colorado headed the Atlantic County delegation. The Wildwood Poet members, the next In line, followed the Wildwood bend. They paraded with straw hau painted a fiery red. The order of march for the Court House Post was white flannel trousers and straw hats. The Legionnaires from other parte took exception to weering strew hats so late In the season. As a result this poet marched minus head wear. Cape Mey City and Lakewood had their own bands. After the representatives of the other counties marched the veterans of the British, French end Italian forces. The Ladies’ Auxiliary, dressed la white costumes, lent a vary attractive appearance to the procession. The perade was reviewed by taany noUblee. George N. Smith, former postmaster of Wildwood. Edwin Pagan and D. Miles Rigor acted aa Judges of the parade. Later in the afternoon North Jersey Legionnaires defeated the South Jersey men, 3 to 2. In a thrilling ball game. The game was hard fought throughout. South Jersey lost the game through stupid base running. The feature of the game waa the onehanded catch made by Claude Rice, the South Jersey Leglont 'res right fielder. Rice Just managed to clutch the bell after a hard run and cut off a nrobable home run. A grand ball was held In the evening on the Ocean Pier where the handsome silver cups donated by the local business men were awarded. The cup winners were Camdvt. Cape Mey. Psscale. Middlesex. Glouc eier end Mercer Counties. The AuxllUT cups were awarded to Sussex. Cape May Court House. Hudson and Berger Poets.
