The resort girl scouts made a very good sum with their cake sale they held on Saturday at Powell's Market, and also st Eighth Street and Wesley Avenue. The proceeds tram this will be devoted to the fund for the renova .tng of the Old Miller House, which will b« used for the Civic Club tng. and also for the boy and girl scout meetings. Joseph Bror.dley. well-known resort plumber, has ' had extensive alterations made to his property on Aslary Avenue. Grubb Brothers doing the work. W. I Raymond had charge sf the electrical work on the premise*. The alterations to the store which was made necessary by the Increase In business, cost over 12,000. The members of the Washington Camp No. 75. Patriotic Orde.- Sons of America, held their annual Past Presidents' Night, with due ceremony and pleasure. All past presidents were on hand and a very line program presented by the entertaining committee. Refreshments were served after the business meeting. City Treasurer Clarence S. Scull, who has been custodian of the public school funds, of this city, recently requested the Board of Education, by letter, for a compensation for this ^activity. In his letter Treasurer Scull declared that the labor in connection with thla duty had greatly Increased In eight years and he felt he should receive a salary for this work. The workmen from Wanamaker's. who .have been laying carpets In the new Flanders Hotel, have about accomplished their work. Besides the carpets the Philadelphia store will supply other furnishing for the big resort hotel. The furniture. One grand and glorious time enjoyed by the many Klwanlans and their guests, at the observance of their "Ladles' Night.” last Monday evening. It was estimated that there wt.-e over sixty members of the resort club on hand with as many more guest*. The affair began with a special theatre party at the Strand Theatre, and later continued with a buffet luncheon at the Blaeayne Hotel. After the repast the guests were shown to the ball room, where dancing was enjoyed.
