The Community Christmas Tree, which was lighted last Saturday night, proved an attraction so strong that practically all of Sea Isle City's people turned out for the exrclasa, and the kiddles were In line one hundred per cent, strong. Neither the adults, nor the children, were disappointed. for the tree was beautiful in Its many colored lights, and old Santa had a stocking full of goodies for each of the children. The exerciser Included a prayer by Rev. J. T. Hennessey. an address by Rev. Dr. Bowen, a talk to the children by Mayor Fitch, and blessing by Rev. B. 8. Dls*>. C. W. Travis, chairman of the Tree Committee. acted as chairman of the occasion. and the local Band furnished the music for the Community singing of Christmas hymns, and the National anthem.
Wayne Struthers spent the Christmas holidays with Lapt. John C. Cole at Avon by the Sea. Walter Poxxl and family, of Atlantic City, spent Christmas at their cottage on Pearl Street. George Jefferies and family are spending the holidays with Mrs. Guy R. Luongo. of Colllngawood. Miss Margare* Donovan, of Philadelphia. spent Christmas with her mother. Mrs Thomas Donovan. Dr. Clarence Way spent Christmas With his sisters. Mrs. Ed. Wells and Mrs. Frank Warner. In Philadelphia. Civil War Veteran Dies Eighty-year-old Civil War Veteran Penbrook H. Price, eon of the late Rev. Jacob P. Price, passed away at 3.30 P.M. Wednesday, at the home of his daughter at Rio Grande. Mr. Price was born In Green Creek on April 14. 1843, and served as a corporal in the Civil War. He was a member of the Mecray Poet, No. 40. G. A. R.. at Cape May. Members of the same and friends are invited to attend the funeral services to be held Sunday, December 30th, at 1 P.M.. at the home^if his daughter, Mrs. Nettle Robart, at Rio Grande. The deceased leaves two daughters. Mrs. Nettle Robart. of Rio Grande, and Mrs. Carrie Scrivanl. of Wildwood, and a grand-daughter, Mra. Isyl Clouting, of Rio Grande, and one brother. Rev. J. Embury Pr' ?, D. D., of New York City. Interment will be made In South Dennis Cemetery. John Godfrey ’ John Godfrey, of Corbin City, who was taken to the Unlveralty Hospital several weeks ago. passed away at that Institution Monday, the seventeenth. His remains were brought to Corbin City by Funeral Director Langley and services were held on Thursday morning at eleven o'clock. Interment was made at the Head-of-the-River Cemetery. Mr. Godfrey Is survived by widow -nd one sister, Mrs. Sarah Jacquette of Pottstown, Pa.
