OCEAN CITY HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL FIVE Reading from Left to Right—Tom Adams. John Boswell, Edgar Baron. Marbus Blackman. Robert Gordon. Arthur Huff. Anthony Selvagn. Paul Pileggi, and Coach Arthur DeMafte. Last week’s victory over Egg Harbor High School virtually ended the basketball season as far ae the Ocean City High School five is concerned. Altugetbe- sixteen games were played, of which fourteen were on the njular schedule. Of these fourteen, nine victorias were turned in. Tbe annual game with Passaic High School, at this time prospective New Jersey State champions for the fifth straight year, was played with the seashore lad* returning on the abort end of a 122 to « score. That _ seemed to throw the local boys off their stride for a short time, records showing that they dropped the next four straight contest' Hcwever. they recovered and struck a Waning stride, winning <dght-oui. of the following nine scheduled games. Tbe Ocean City High School five were scheduled to play tbe Pleaaantvllle High School five a eeriee of four game*, two borne and two away, with a fifth, if necessary, to be played on a neutral floor. Two games were played with the mainland quintette, the first one at PleasantviUe resulting In a 42 to 12 setback for the leads, and tbe second one resulting In a 27 to 20 triumph for Ocean City. However, tbe mumpe came along and claimed Captain Baron. Blackman Go don. Huff. Boswell and Tom Adams. When they recovered the aseao.i eras so advanced that the Idea of finishing the series this season waa out of the question. Tbe members of the squad who will probably receive their letters this year are: Captain Edwin Baron. John Boswell, Marcus BLckman. Paul Pileggi, Robert Gordon, Anthony Selragn. Arthur Huff and Thozaar AtUmn Arthur Demaria, the coach, and T. Lee Adams, the manager, will also receive their honorary letters. Captain Baron leads the resort fire In the number of points scored. In sixteen contests, tbe hmky canter scored thirty-four field got s and nineteen fools for s total of eighty-erven points. This indicates that Baron ■cored an average of tvs and one-half points per game. John Boswell, lanky forward, is next with a total of eighty-three point* In fourteen game*, or an average of almost stx points pec game. Tommy Adams ranks third with fifty-two points. Marcus Blackman, star guard, with forty-six points, ranks fourth, with Robert Gordon next, having a total of twenty-six points. Anthony Selvagn. with nineteen, and Paul Pileggi. with sixteen, round out the high scores. Gas Smith, Arthur Huff and Hubert Shaw also broke into tbe scoring column. The seashore school is lucky in the fact that only one member of the team may be lost by graduation, being Mmrcus Blackman. Thus Coach DeMaris may expect an all-veteran combination to work with next year. I results follow: Ocean City, 32; Tuckerton High School. 12. Ocean City. 6; Passaic HigL School, 122.
