Boardwalk Bids Sea Isle Commiasion Will Aak For

At the regular weekly session of the Sea isle City Commissioners, on Tuesday, bids I r the new section of boardwalk to be built at the south end of the present boardwalk were rejected and new bids ordered advertised for. The reason Is that the city owns some la-foot piling, and now wants alternate bids, to make use of the pilings now owned. The Solicitor prevented the contract of the Keystone Telephone Company, which will allow the company to erect pole* and put up wires on any street In the city, except Landis Avenue, from Spencer to Elm Streets, and on the Boardwalk. Director Sofroney reported progress on the advertising sign to be erected at the head of the turnpike, and was directed to secure permission from the adjoining property owner to erect the sign. Director Love stated that the utility bond Issue would be ready for settlement within the next two ks, and the money would be paid

Oommlaalon stated that the Commission on March 17 approved of an appropriation of $$6,000 to the county for the Cape May Point Boulevard hard-surfacing, and also that the Commission had approved the plans and specifications for this work. The Cape May Point road leads from Cape May City to Cape May Point, and has been in bad repair for yeas*, due

to the heavy truck travel.

Millville Bus Line Opening Postponed

On Thursday evening the Ocean City police received a frantic call from Paiermo. stating that a number of bandits had passed by and threw a revolver on the lawn of Mrs. Laura Godfrey. Upon the arrival of the police, they were informed that the deadly weapon had been placed in a bucket of water to prevent exploding. An examination showed the deadly weapon to be a toy cap pistol. With a grunt of disgust the bandit-chasing officials abandoned the search and returned to the more peaceful climes of Ocean City.

This subject was set by the TIMES as a subject for essays by the senior High School students throughout the county, with prise* aggr-gating Fifty Dollars for the best essays submitted. Due to debates and other school activities, pupils have been unable to give this contest as much attention as it deserves, and for this reason the date of the contest has been advanced from April 17, as previously announced, to May 8. when all esrays must be in the TIMES office for Judging. Through the co-operation of Principal kalph N. Kocher. of the Wlldood High School, every member of lie senior class of that school have submitted essays, and this school will undoubtedly make a most excellent ebowlng. The prlae-wlnnlng essays, together with the photographs of the winners, will be published 'u the TIMES the week after the close of ;he contest. For the benefit of students Interested in the contest and unfamiliar with t'ae few simple rules we are reprinting them herewith: Rules of Contest Write on plain letter-aise paper (8 1-2 inches by 11 Inches).
