AlexU U Clark. Chief of the State Bureau of Markets, Addressed a meeting of farmers at the Court House Wedneeday evening.

May «.

Mr. Clark stated that the Bureau of Markeu, In conjunction with a committee of farmers who own Urge roadside markeU. have formulated plana whereby the Bureau of Markeu Is prepared to certify roadside markets. These markeu will be furnlebed with a large sign. Indicating that It U a New Jersey standard roadside market. ThU certification la purely voluntary on the part ot the market owner*. However, standard market* will be obliged to live up to certain requirement* prescribed by this committee In ^o-operation *»ith the Bureau of Markets.* Naturally, no hard and fast rules can be laid down for such a market, but the requirements would have to be lived up to by the market owner within the HmlU of common sense. That U. as Mr. Clark put It, there would be nothing to prevent turning the bright side of s peach up to show off a basket of fruit, however, the top of the basket should be fairly representative of the entire lot of fruit In the basket. Cleanliness and neatness are other considerations. Furthermore, to b^a standard market, the owner would tw required to not sell over twentyfivs per cent, of produce which was not grown on hU own farm. Of that twenty-five per cent., fifteen must be locally grown r;oMr. Clark also Intimated that the Bute Highway Department will be more strict thU year about roadside markets blocking the highway. That U, they will be required to be a certain distance back from the highway, so that car* stopping at the markets will not congest the traffic. Keeping His Word “I rather pride myself on one ■martest, cutest, best youngster I saw I never brag about him.”
