The concentrated solutions of Ume end copper sulfate should never be mixed. Prepared Bordeaux mixtures can be bought and will give conilderable measure of protection. However, they are usually neither as strong nor as effective as freshly made Bordeaux. CHERRIES—When cherries are about the aise of a small pea the practice is to coat them with selfboiled Ume sulfur, made by slaking 8 Iba. of stone Ume, mixing with It as it slakes. 8 Iba. of sulfur hour. Stirring la continued until the boiling ceases, when the rest of the 60 gallons of water should be added. To thla is added i 1-2 Iba of arsenate of lead. Or 11 1-1 Iba Mt "dry-mix sulfur Ume" and 1 1-1 h>A. of powdered lead arsenate to 60 gallons of water may be used. Brown rot. leaf spot, rose chafers and pear slugs are checked by this spray.
