This Is hot a week after the middle of May and summertime seashore activity has set Us stamp upon Wildwood's beacnes In real enough fashion. Bathers were seen In large number all of 8®** day last, which was an Ideal day for the sport. The boardwalk was resplendent In gaily attired femininity on parade, numerous shop.open, found ready buyers In aU lines of trade. Kiddles with turket and shovel. In happy groups, spent busy hours In house building, loathe to leave their playground at the call of the first toot of the engine’s whistle homeward bound. It was the first real warm day of the season, bidding grownups alike to partake of the season’s greeting under fair skies
and beaming sunshine.
The new boardwalk, on the lest lap of finishing touches under the F W Schlere. Jr., contract. Is one of the big drawing cards for the thousands of visitors who will tramp Us wide wooden way this season. An elaborate program of entertainment will mark the op*nIng exercises of the new walk on Memorial Day. held under the auspices of the City Commissioners and the Wildwood Board of Trade. The Daughters of America will institute a new council in Millville, Wednesday evening, as the result of the combined efforts of Mrs. Hattie Dukes and Mrs. Sturgis, of Tuckahoe. The affair will take place In the American Legion rooms and marks the second event of this nature organised by Mrs. Dukes, who was instrumental in forming the council at Bridgeton four years ago. which has been such a success.
