Chamber of Commerce Meeting At the meeting of the Chamber of Commerce on Tuaaday evening. Mr Ra'ph Chester reported that

the city bad only **.300 left of their appropriation and would be unable to lend any assistance with the new publicity car, but that the city would consider erecting a building to house the car and that they would also help in the advertising. This has proved a keen disappointment to the chamber as they felt the city would

help finance the car.

Trolley Co. Must Repair Paving Ocean City Commiuioners Send Hurry Order to Shore Fast line

At a meeting in the City Hall on Monday, the City TCmmissionera decided to take Immediate action In the controversey over the saving of Eighth Street. They ordered the paving immediately reoalred and directed proper stej*. be taken to compel the Shore Fast Line to pay the cost. Last fall .he Shore Fast Line tore up the paving on Eighth Street to make repairs to rails. Instead of replacing the wood block paving some cinders and gravel was piled into the many holes. The rain soaking through the cinders forced the blocks in the vicinity of the repairs to swell. The cinders settled and numerous humps and ruts result ed, causing much annoyance to motor drivers. The attention of the Shore Post Line officials was called to the condition hot only promises that necessary repairs would be made resulted. The City Commissioners decided to prevent any Urdlneaa by the Shore Fast Line and directed the wo-k he completed as soon as possible. Another paving problem was threshed out by the City Commissioners when the ordinance tor the opening of streets was passed. This ordinance speclflee Mat when a

street la opened, an application, accompanied by a sum fixed by the city, should be made. After the necessary repairs, such Ms laying water, gas pipe, etc., are completed the city would complete the grading over where the street had been opened, the coat to be deducted from the fee accompanying the application. Formerly the work of dosing the street was done by the applicant The workmen usually mixed the sand and gravel and dumped it Into the excavation. A hutnp in the street resulted, which was followed by a rut in a few days. Under city direction the excavation will be properly closed and gravel replaced on the top. (Continued on Page 8)
