Brush Fires Drive Away Mai.y Birds Everywhere areas of brush, fields, which. In the past have been nesting haunts for warblers, sparrows and other birds, now bleak and barren looking as a result of field fires of last fall or the past spring, startlingly emphasise a critical loss and danger, all .oo complacently regarded by an unawakened public, according to the New Jersey Audubon Society. Recent et-vamee of such areas In north and south Jersey by Beecher S. Bowdlah, the society's secretary, have shown these tracts, formerly abounding with chest-nut-sided. hooded and black and white warblers, towhees. Indigo buntings and other small birds, now denuded of necessary covering. thiough the killing by fins, of the brush that had bo well served the birds' needs. As a result. In many Instances, the latter were found crowded into leas naturally well adapted areaa. which had escaped the fire demon, while the denuded areas suffered, not only loos of attractive vegetation, but the protection from Insect hordes that former feathered Inhabitants afforded thvm. and adjacent euUvated lands shared this loss of protection. Mr. Bowdlah declares that while carelessness Is responsible for some of these fires, criminal vandalism has a groat part In the cause. They must either be done swsy with through an awakened and unlfiad public sentiment, or untold

j:—^ trouble's right herein tins cap' “See this pin hole. lt*f all plugged up with vwwd and dust. That bole’s the start of your gas feed system. When you use up ten gallons of gas ten gallons of air have to get into your tank. If the air can’t get through the cap you’ll get a vacuum in your tank and the gas won’t flow freely. You’ll have trouble sure as shoodn’ if you don’t clean d\pt hole out once In a while.” It takes years and years cf practical experience to Learn how to “shoot trouble” on every make of car that may come into a garage. It takes much longer to learn all the intricacies of petroleum refining. We’ve been at it for two generations and experience Las taught us how to turn out good motor oils of uniform high quality year after year.
