Police Captain Marple, acting under the advice of City Solicitor Andrew Boswell, •old John P. Rankin, manager of the Plaxa Theatre, the Boardwalk between Ninth and Tenth Streets. Sunday evening, that the free organ recital schedule to begin at 8.30 o’clock that evening could not go on. according to Rankin In an Interview yesterday. Rankin said that be had advertised the free recital during the week and had been all prepared to put It on at 8.30. bat when he threw open the doors to the public Captain Marple told him it waa against the law. Rankin then closed the theatre, according to bis story, and heard the disappointed public outside say uncomplimentary things about Ocean City. He then hastily wrote a sign, ha said, and put it over the original announcement outside the theatre. The new sign read aa follows: “Ocean City's Law Enforcement Prohiblta This Evening's Con-

There waa a border of crepe about this paster. Rankin emphatically denied yesterday morning that the free organ recital (Frederick Kingsley was to have been the organist) waa a forerunner of a movement to bring about Sunday shows and paid admissions. City Solicitor Boswell scoffed at the idea of the theatre management giving the entertainment with no other motive than to "Juat give an organ recital for lOthfng.” He Indicated that It raa simply a wedge used to bring an open Sunday, which will not be countenanced by the City Commissioners. It was labeled an ad-

Frank McKechnle, star cameraan of the International News Reel, spent three days In Ocean City shooting scenes on the beach and other activities to broadcast to the world through the International New# Reel, including etUl# aad movies that will not only be ueed In the Hearat paper* and theatras. but all the leading theatres and newspapers In the

McKechnle haa aeen many beaches, having toureu the world for news reel. He was gieatly Impressed with the beach exercises conducted by Ward Beam and declared that they were the finest he has seen during hla world-wide

Among the movies taken by McKechnle was a close np of Mlaa Maxine Meitxner. the 16-year-old miss who swam from Ocean City U» Atlantic City last Saturday. Thla was taken at the hospital tent at Tenth Street and the

Boardwalk.

Many views of the city and beach were snapped, also Ward Beam's dally dozen class, which appears to be a great attraction to the manipulators of the camei a. The Bally dozen class at Thirtysecond Street furnished mnch material ror McKechnle. Here a splendid marching pyramid was

formed.

McKechnle halls from New Zealand, but Is more of coemopolltan man by virtue of bis newspaper experience and danng In making exclusive "shots" of world happenings for the Hearst syndi-

He is the only civilian who flew to Porto Rico on the giant dirigible. Ux Angeles, on the two day-non-etop flight from Lakehurat. The most no.el part of the trip waa eating and aleeping above the clouds. After staying at Maraguex. Porto Rico, he flew to St. Thomas In the Virgin Islands. He circled over each town In Porto Rico and flew back to Lakehurat. via Miami, Palm Beach. JackaonvIUe. CUarles-•-n and other aeacoast towns. Mr. McKechnle spent a week rum row, watching the actlvl- * of the rum-runner*. To all appearance rum row. according to McKechnle. McKechnle Is the ace of the International News Reel for daring flights. He was the first man to fly with the Martin bomber* over New York, the first planes of any magnitude to circle and land at MlUhell Field, Long Island, at Mr. McKechnle was sent here * by the managing editor of the News Reel through the efforts of William T.
