DEATHS Dr. Humphrey Swain Dr. Humphrey Swain, a lifelong resident of Goshen, aged 82, died Friday morning attei four weeks' illness, with apoplexy. Dr. Swain was the eon of John and Mary Swain. The funeral wu heH on Monday at his late home. Rev. Charles Hand and Rev. V. Sergeant, of Ocean City, had charge of the servlcee. The remains were laid at rest In the Goshen M. E. cemetery. He leave* a widow. Mrs. Elisabeth Swain, to mourn his loss. TTantmJi Aim Sharp Hannah Arm Sharp, widow of the late Thomas C. Sharp, of Ocean View, died Monday morning. In her 89th year. Mrs. Sharp waa born In Berlin N. J., and came to Cape May County 54 years ago, residing here from that time until her death. Mr. Sharp conducted a general store at Ocean View for many years. He passed away eight years ago. Deceased wa* a member of the BeavUle V. E. Church for half a century. She is survived by four sons and one daughter, John W Sharp, of Ocean City; Francis B. Sharp. Walter H. Sharp and Joseph B. Sharp, of Sea Isle City, and Mrs. Fred Staples, of Exeter.

The funeral was held from the home of her son. Francis B. Sharp. 20 Swain St.. Sea Isle City. Wednesday afternoon. at 1 o’clock. Interment was made at the Seavllle cemetery. Herbert V7. Manning, Sr. Herbert W. Manning. Sr., died at his home at Burleigh Monday afternoon, at 2 o'clock, aged 75
years. He had been In apparently good health unUl the first of July, when he discovered he was suffering from liver trouble, which proved to be cancer of the liver. He followed his trade of painting In Camden until the middle of Joly, when he was forced to stop work and come down to his farm at Burleigh, which Is operated by his son. Herbert. Three weeks later he was confined to his bed and grew gradually weaker until his nth. Mr. Manning was born In Templeton. Mas*.. In 1860. and came to New Jersey fifty years ago. He purchased the term at Burleigh over thiry-five year* ago, devoting, however, most of his time to painting in Camden and vicinity, where he was very well known. He was a quiet, genial man of Industrious hsbiU. He Is survived by his atfe, Lodemla B, who is a daughter of the late Cornelius Bennett, who early settled In this county; a son Herbert W. and three brothers. Lewis, of Philadelphia; Alvoid. of Templeton. Mass.; and Ren. of Worcester. Mass. The funeral was held Thursday afternoon at 2 o’clock from his late residence. Interment was made at the Baptist Cemetery, Cape May Court House.
