Baron De Hirsch Fund Will Gioe Cash to Help Woodbine Tnutee* Had Snrvty Made of Conditions in Borough and on Basis of Beport, Will Supply Funds For Community Hall, To Raise Standards of Schools, Rehabilitate and Extend Electric Plant
Will Erect Houses and Outbuildings For Poultry Plants
Sea Isle Must Make Utility Deficits Good Commissioners Award Contract For Cleaning Artesian Wells To Artesian Well Co. For $440
The Baron De Hirsch Fund, under whose auspices Woodbine was founded, has again decided to come to the succor of the Borough and supply the money for needed Improvements. under certain scribed conditions, all of which are easy to comply with and will be for the betterment of the community. Some time since the Trustees had a surrey mede of conditions in the Borough, and on the basis of that report decided to aid the Borough by supplying needed Improvement* which will make it a more Inviting plape of residence, thereby creating a demand for real estate and automatically Increasing valuations. which in turn will increase the receipts of the Borough treasury and help the town to help
Itself.
Among the things which tbe survey found the Borough needed wai a community hall, an extension of Its school curriculum and tb< money to pay teachers better salaries; the rehabilitation and extension of the electric light plant and the construction of a number of model homes and outbuildings for poultry farms as inducements to gel poultry-men to locate around tbe Borough. To supply these will require the expenditure of a very considerable ■um of money and this the fund has determined to supply on two condition*. often that a Borough has such a liberal offer made It for Improvements and the people of Woodbine should not hesitate in a ready acceptance, particularly as the chief requirements are in line with the needs for a clean, sanitary and healthy town. The letter of the Trustees of the Fund making the offer la in full as follow*: Mr. Samuel Greensteln, Mayor, the Counellmen of Woodbine Borough, the Board of Education. and the Board of Trade of the Town of Woodbine, New Gentlemen.—In a survey of conditions at Woodbine tbe Trustees of tbe Baron De Hirsch Fund found there was no meeting hall in which concerts, entertainment* or lectures could be given, library and no place for tbe young people to aaaemble for entertainment and diversion. The failure to provide sufficient Income for tbe school* and other Borough purposes wee explained by the fact that notwithstanding the rise In coet of living and wages since 1*14. the taxable vaiuee of real property in Woodbine bad not increased as It had In all tbe other eeciona of New Jeney.
