“in Take The Cigars” N OT SO MANY years ago, when Miami existed as a place for the Florida Last Coast Railway to terminate, merely because a railroad has to terminate somewhere, Henry Flagler, so the story goes, walked through the Miami wilderness with his coachman, or his valet, or whatever the individoal was When they reached a part of what is now a section of towering buildings in Flagler Street, Mr. Flagler turned to his companion and

said: r i: -

“George, I’m going to show you how much I appreciate your service, and,” indicating with a sweep of his arm the territory mentioned, “I’m going to give you that property right in there — it’s about ten acres.” The valet, or the coachman, or whatever the individual was, did not, so to speak, throw an over-enthusiastic Charleston at this great news. Instead, he surveyed the barren wasteland with a critical eye; looked at the scrub-palms, the thick foliage; slapped at a couple cf playful mosquitoes which were seeking a landing place; shifted his enormous'chew of tobacco to the other cheek,

and drawled:

“Thanks, Henry — but if it's all the same to you —I’ll take a box of

cigars!"

Eemaginc!

A box of cigars won the decision over property that is today worth millions and millions of dollars. George probably enjoyed those cigars thoroughly —

he should have.

They cost him fifteen or twenty million dollars apiece! Yet, yye can’t help wondering what would happen today, if in some manner, Henry Flagler and his friend should again be able to walk down Flagler Street; and if Mr. Flagler should again make the statement, “ I’m going to give you that property right in there — it’s about ten acres." Very likely, George would promptly drop dead. Very likely also, Henry Flagler would just as promptly be hailed before a board of solemn M. D.'s and examinedxarefully for any signs attendant to a mental cave-in. For today, such stores as ourdine s, Cromer-Cassels's; such institutions as the Bank of Bay Biscayne; such comers as First Avenue and Flagler Street, would be included in the ten acres. Just as true as the fact thaf George failed to realize the tremendous value of what he had refused, is the possibility that even Henry Flagler failed to grasp the huge proportions of the gift he had offered. The monJ for all good stories have a moral - - - is simply this:

Too often, we fail to see possibilities that con

wo prefer a box of cigars merely because we are f when our minds cannot grasp the full significance of that donation.

There are thousands upon thousands of "Georges" in Sea Isle Gty and Cape May County.

Almost every train, every automobile, airship, wagon or velocipede is bringing more.

And, tpo, there are hundreds of broad-visioned men who (though they haven’t built any railroads, though they have constructed practically everything else under the sun) will offer many wonderful opportunities to the "Georges" of modem times. Many of these will, as did George of other days, fail to take advantage of opportunities extended to them. Others will ac-

cept them —and through their acceptance.

PROFIT GREATLY in SEA ISLE CITY For. there is no “boom;" this is no bubble” unlike some southern cities. The present great activity in chore real estate is only the awakening to the fact that Sea Isle Gty and Cape May County are many years behind in the development of their natural resources and wonderful advantages. Scoffers who make the statement that we have no industrial or commercial possibilities have never taken the trouble to look beyond their own noses. Sea Isle City has a glorious future as a resort city - - - and in the tounst trade. Yes, the tourist trade is a solid business. If you don’t believe it. see how it has built Lot Angeles from a city of 20.000 to a city of more than 1.000,000 population within twenty years, and Miami from a city of 13.000 to a city of

more than 100,000 within five years.

Certainly Sea isle Gty is on the way to be a greater city. Come on. you Georges, think awhile. Then, seize Opportunity by the hand. Sea Isle Gty will carry you to prosperity beyond

your wildest imaginings.
