The affidavits state that property in this section has been so subdivided and a number of houses built thereon, adjacent to the Town ol Cape May Court | House. This property fronts upon the- Slone Harbor Boulevard near where it la crowd by the Seashore Road. Houses already buiil this section are served by tbe Cape May Coun Hauae Water Works and have electricity for
domestic use.
The Mt. Airy section of the one Harbor Terminal Company's property include extensive deposits of gravel which have been ~ur road bulldinjt and also cement sand. Adjoining grave) and sand pita are now being worked and their output sold. There Is a large area of salt meadow land. It Is affirmed, included In Ihe Stone Harbor Terminal Company's property and lying between tbe upland and Stone Harbor, which ronalsta. the affidavits aver, they sue informed of about 800 acres. Messrs. Lu<Uam end Hildreth and Colonel Howell In their affidavits declare that the property Is worth $60,000, and that It will bring Ibis amount if publicly offered for sale, while Postmaster Richardson testifies that In his opinion. Ihe property la worth $63,000. and would bring that amouni if publicly offered. A citizen of Stone Harbor said. In response to a telephone qulry. that a considerable portion of the Terminal Company's properly, which l« known locally aa the "country Club Tract." has been sold off during the last three o- four years at what wellinformed real estate men regard as very low prices. He also staled that Immense quantities of gravel, amounting of thousands of tons are found In the Mt. Airy Section, which is Included In the unsold lands owned by the company today. This splendid road making material, tbe apeaket over the 'pooue stated, had beer, most successfully uawl In road construction work at Stone Harbor. H* added that It wao generally understood that the Rlsleys organized the Stono Harbor Terminal Company, bock In 1908 or 1909. not only to secure the rights of way of the railroad, boulevard end canal which they built, the latter being partly finished, but also for the expre-w purposes of obtaining gravel for street work at Stone Harbor and as* a top-dressing for tbe large area of beach property which they filled In upwards ol eighteen years ago. He said that II was generally understood that
fourteen acres of gravel denosits sold off are being worked by their present owner under contract for delivery of gravel and for the benefit of ihe Pedrick development on Two-Mile Bench between Wildwood and Cape May. It war stated that cement said has also been obtained from this locality. Another section of tbe acreage still owned by Ihe company of large extent Is bounded (or hundreds of feet on the tfest by ;he Goshen road find Is crossed by the rictus of wap of the Reading and Penosy systems In the Immediate vicinity of Cape May
Court House.
Finally there Is Included the salt meadow lands, amounting to about 800 acres, lying between the old golf course and Mt. Airy and running out to Scotch Bonnet. a tidal thoroughfare crossed by a bridge on the Stone Harbor Boulevard one mile from Great Channel at Stone Harbor. Salt hay In large quantities is harvested yearly on these mes land sold at satisfactory prices In Cape May Court House. In answer to a question on this point. Ihe speaker expressed the opinion that every Ion of gravel mined and shipped from the neighboring Mt. Airy gravel pita would prove a dlsllncl public loss to Stone Harbor and would seriously Impair the d< velopment of the resort becau> It would necesaltste bringing in gravel from much more distant points at vastly greater expenvIf the Ml. Airy deposits haualH before further Improvements are mhde at Stone Harbor.
