CHANGES in Long Distance Rates To points ijo -miles -or more distant the rates will be substantially reduced. The greater the distance, the greater the reduction. . For example, from Atlantic City to Pittsburgh the basic sta-tion-to-station rate will be $i.6y instead of $xoo; to Chicago, FrancMCQy Si 1.50 instead of $16.50. X ^ * A few rat&s for distances between 04 and no miles will x be adjusted to make the schedule consistent throughout, but in these cases the increase of the basic station'to'station rate will be only five cents. ^ Reversed Charges on Statwn*tQ*Suuwn Calls Heretofore the reversal of charges has been available only on person-ttyperson calls. As a further convenience to the public this privilege will be extended to statjon-tostatjon calls where the rate is 25 cents or more. LONGER Reduced Rate Hours Reduced rate hours on Station-to-Station calk will begin at 7 pm. instead of 8:3c pm. as formerly. . Between 7 and 8:30 pm. the rates will be approximately 75 per cent of the day stadon-to'station rates. From 8:30 pm. to 4:30 am., they will be about 50 per ^ cent of the day rate. These discounts will apply where die day station-tostation rate is 40 cents or more, with a minimum reduced rate of 35 cents. Because of the unsatisfactory service conditions which it brought about, the existing midnight discount will be dk' ' r ■—^ continued. These changes are made in the interests of public convm* ' fence, to relieve the burden now imposed by die congestion ' * of business at midnight and to furnish still better long dis* tance service. These service and rate changes are a part of a broad plan for Krvice improvements which, with similar changes to be made in other parts of the country, will result in a saving to the telephone users of the United States of approximately $3,000,000 a year.
