To Grow Successfully We Must Build Religiously
The Way of Life and Light!
Religion is the soul of a nation. The lesson ol history is that no nation has lung survived the decay of its religious Instilutions. Neglect of religion means Orel individual, then national degeneracy. Matthew Arnold said that the ancient nations came down one after another for the lack of righteousness. President Coolidge spoke with the voice of a prophet when he said: "When we explore the real foundations of our instilutions we come very soon to the matter of religion. When the common people turned to the reading of the Bible, as they did in the Netheilands and in England, when they were stirred by a great revival os they were in the days of Edwards and Whiteilcld. I he way was prepared for Cromwell and for Washington, li was because religion ga.e the people a n;>w importance and a new glory that they demanded a new government. We cannot reject. In oar generation. the cause and retain the result."
This makes clear the importance of the church and her influence as a factor In helping to solve our national problems. In other words, the man who Identifles himself with these influences and Ideals which help to keep his vision dear, stands In the place in which 1 <• receives the greatest power to serve his country. True patrioUsm demands ihal every citizen j.-late himself with those principles and imitliuiIons that make for the nurrr.l and spirt.ual life of the nation. Go to church because the church stands for th - highest type of manhood and womanhood, li preaches religion. It aims to inspire by moans of religion. It calls us to worship—to b w In reverence at the ihrone of God. H lids before the eyes of a sin-stricken world the cross of one who was crucified for us all, saylug ever, that the way of the cross ia the way ol life and HghL
