Announcement Announcement is herewith made of the purchase this week of * substantial interest in the Atlantic Printing and Publishing Company, by Ray Thorpe and L. D. Angevine, who have come here from the State of Washington, when they recently sold their newspaper and printing business. They ccrne East convinced that the East offers larger opportunities than arc found in the West, and still more convinced that the g-.eatest opportunity in the East lies in Cape May County. For myself, 1 continue with the company, as before, as President. For a long time 1 have wanted to relinquish part of the responsibility and care of the management of a business that has assumed larger proportions during the fifteen years I base controlled and managed it, and in the arrangement with Mr. Thorpe and Mr. Angevine, both of whom are newspaper executives of proven ability, this will be accomplished. As soon <ts they are thoroughly familiar with the field, and with the organization. 1 am leaving for a several months’ vacation, the first real vacation since my coming to Cape May County . Mr. Thorpe and Mil Angevine will become officers of the ahupain, and will, with myself, take active part in the direction of the afiairs of the business. Each will take charge of a depai - mem. There is to he no change in the policy of the TIMES and it> sister newspapers, the OCEAN CITY NEWS, the SEVEN MILE BEACH REPORTER and the PORT NORRIS ADVERTISER. and there will be practically no change in the organization which performs the editorial, business and mechanical work of producing what have become outstanding newspapers in their respective fields. A constant improvement, however, will be sought. 1 ask for both Mr. Thorpe and Mr. Angevine the same friendship that was extended to me many years ago, and which has grown through the years. 1 am sati>fied that they will soon be saturated with the same spirit of sociability and friendliness that really nukes of Cape May County one Urge, progressive community, populated by the best people on earth. Both men are fine types of hustling young American', ind 1 hope they will find a olacr in your hearts very soon. _, w _ p For 1928 1 predict a greater Cape May County TIM. (and a greater companion newspapers), than ever before. Now the outstanding weekly of New Jersey, for three successive years carrying off first awards in every newspaper competition, and carrying the largest volume of advertising of any weekly newspaper in Sooth Jersey, the TIM ES will be even better and bigger during the coming year than in the past. I cannot complete this informal announcement of so important an event as the coming to Cape May County of these two splendid men, without a word cf thanks to our thousands of reader*, and our hundreds of business patrons and friends, in appreciation of their loyal support which has made the TIMES grow from a little four-page newspaper to one of the largest weeklies in the enure United States, and one of the largest industries of Cape May County. I hope that we have merited tins support by a fair policy and decent businc*. methods, and assure you that l appreciate your response to our efforts to serve you. To all—a Happv, Prosperous. Successful New Year. 9^ a
