The CjH^May (iolf Club which in noletCTor (he great number of invitation events held on iu links each year, w ill uphold its reputation in this- line again this season and a number of semi-social events are being planned for this monlh. Judge KlUott Kodgers, of Pittsburg, usually gives one or two events each year and he is expected to give in .a few days some eventa. One of Judge Rodgers invitation tourneys will be a mix«l foursome competition at, medal playi and it is said that the other event that he contemplate;: holding will be a cross country feature in which the holes will be played in various directions in order to obtain the longest possible disR. Norris Williams, tha chairman of, the Handicap Committee, also usually gives an invitation event each- year, and his lourney,-the nature of which has not .yet been disclosed, will likely come along toward the latter part of August,and it is probable that Mr. and Mrs. Frank R. Shattuek, upon their return from Europe, will also p it up a set of cups to be competed for by the < 'ape May Club members. This wi>l not end the series of inyilatioh events however, as Dr. Charles N. Davis, chairman of the Green Committee, also make it his custom to give the members of the Cape May Cluban opportunity '-to compete for special trophies each sea-on. -Tresident Ed win E. Cook gave hi* invitation event last month, and' ’it i« likely that the other club memberwill follow the precedent set by hun and extend invitations only to the regular club members, but special prizes will very likely be awareed to any transient players who happen. tc f . be here at the time and finish with lower scores than the club members.
