For one who sesames to chronicler of things seen and beard along the Cape May beach, there Is much to praise, and not a little to call forth advene criticism. For examto contemplate the conditions which prevail along the ocean 'front of the Cape from the city line to the point of the Cape, 1U past aa remembered by many now living, Us present and Its prospective or poeslbWfuture. Is really painful. Land Improvement Companies have gone to the bad within the past thirty-three yean, or third of ** century, because of the feeble efforts of man to cope with Old Neptune's progressive forces, have gone for naught. Within this period many thousands of dollars worth of property have been swallowed np by the sea. These devestayng forces an still at work, and win continue to work until the state or federal authorities awaken to the necessity of appropriating sufficient money to bulkhead the shore line In manner that shall successfully with stand the power of the sea to devour.

This Idea may be "pooh-poohed.” but Just think of tbe millions appropriated by politicians for some sinister purpose, or for their own persona advantage or benefit. A continuous stone-based bulk-head should bav been constructed at public expense

Yesterday's atmosphere, climate and aquatic conditions were Ideal for. a full enjoyment of the sea beach, sportive and health-giving influences. All the regulars and a lot of the Irregulars were on the beach, and It was long after one before the last stragglers found their way to dinner. Views as to what may or may not constitute a proper regard for the sanctity of the Sabbath are many and various. Sunday aea bathing does not meet with favor among all Christ Ian people. But everybody can con sdentioualy enjoy the healthful sport every other day In the week. Rev. Arthur Hess Is an ardent lover of the same, and often gives the most courtoua attention and assistance lady bathej* of bis acquaintance. We have previously noted the fact that Rev. JameaBurns', of the M. E. Church and Rev. D. 8. Kelly, of 8L Mary's Catholic Church, freqnsnUy sought the refreshing and Invigorating Influence of surf and strand.
