Mr. and Mrs. R M. Ham, of Philadelphia, are guests at the Hotel Cape May. Mr. Ham was formerly chief clerk of the Stockton, this city, and Is now connected with the Stratford Hotel. Philadelphia. * Former Congressman and Mr*. Gw, Hires, of Salem, N. J-. accompanied by their two daughters, are enjoying a season of vacation at the Hotel Cape May. Congressman Hires distinctly remembers the opening of the Stockton Hotel In 186S. and was one of the guests at the first week of the opening. He recalls that the opening of mammoth hotel was as much a revelation to the country as being the greatest hotel on the coast In that day, as was the opening of the Hotel Cape May last April Congress man Hires has been coming to Cape May every year since, for a brief suM mer vacation. He also had the honor of being the first nominee for Congress at a convention held on the iron pier. Cape May. the first political convention ever held over the ocean.
