A lathes’# Idem of ‘‘heaven taught by the Scripture will' appear in a day or tiro. It may be a dlaaertation on Cape May, the earthly heaven of

The Hotel Columbia, under the maliageioent of Colonel H. W. Sawyer, promlae* to be one of the moat popular houaea in town. The Colonel i* putting good men to look after the different departments. The bouse has been thoroughly overhauled and everything is as bright as a new pin. It has several guests already and.it wDl not be long before It will be flllrd, judging from applications.

We have protested each season against the practise of some bathers in venturing too far put in the surf. No matter hpw well a person swims nor how confident of his skill he may be, he is in danger the moment he gets beyond his depth. He sport a with his own life and be annoys many others who are apprehensive for his safety. It is a wrong practise. Five feet of water ia.aa good as fifty, and it la much safer. Don't run risks when bathing. Thebe Is an impression abroad that_ living in this resort is more expensive than In others, but as we have often said before, we believe this idea to be a wrong one. Thdae who come here and look about them will Anil, we think, that they have a choice. They can , obtain accommodations at almost any price and will find the price and accommodations to bear about the lation to each other as at any other resprt and, in fact, as at any other city. They cannot obtain first class hotel fsre at third-class prices and would be foolish to expect it, but they can obtain excellent accommodations at low prices or first-class service at the prices that usually rule almost everywhere. This charge of high prices Is an old one which has been circulated for years by Cape May'# enemies and ocmuhnially crop# out now, here and there, but we believe it to -be without foundation In

fact.

Thomak Robb has become the owner of a large amount of Cape May real estate, including the Chalfontc, the Hotel Columbia and several cottages, and is one of the firmest believers in the future-prosperity of the resort. His ownership of the two hotels named has already resulted !n bringing them before

the public under fsi

That they will lie vigorously and prop, eriy managed goes without uying, and under such management thtjy are assured of success. Mr. Robb ia one of our most public-spirited property owner* and ia anxious that there should be considerable improvement of a public nature under t|temunicipal government. He has expressed his opinion that the beach drive exteoaiou should lie made at the earliest practicable moment aikd Is hi accord with all projects of a reasonable character for the advancement of the interests of Cape May. We feel that Cape May baa reason to rejoice at the interest he la taking, and wo would like to see many other men aa earnest and progreaaive become interested. Cape Mat ia essentially different from all other resorts. It i# the eonaervatiye, and has a summer, cottage population which Includea some of the Tery beat people of the country, r y of whom have been regular vlstto Cape May since childhood and who love It aa their fixed summer home. IU claims to patronage arc more pronounced and positive than those of any other resort, and consist largely of the unrivalled natural facilities which has made It a famous resort for many year*, and which, supported by active effort to inenwae its business, will make It in the future the most famous and the most successful. This prediction ia au be verified, because the people of this whole broad land are Inquiring for and seeking just such a resort, and need but Information of it to bring them here In large numbers. The Information ia goIng abroad to-day, and our patronage is increasing In volume, and includea this aeaaon a number of people who are eujoying their first vtait here and who are delighting In their experiences. Cape May will never become an excursion resort to the extent of other rfSort towns because it will never cater for this distinction. Its patronage will always consist mainly of the better classes of society, and Us jrreparatioos for business wUI always have this in view. We have now some of the finest hotels on the coast, and sr will increase. Within the
