We are informed that a contract been made by a company w ith the Ian and Hollingsworth Company, of Wilmington, to build a ’ new slean 100 feet longer than the Republic, carry 9000 passenger*. It ia to be put on between Philadelphia and Cape May next summer in opimsltioh to the Republic, and ia to make the trip in hour and a half better time than that boat does now. This is the story as we get it, but we propose to look further
i into the matter.
^Peesidest Hakkisos.- Secretary lilaine and PoatmastrT General Wana- ' maker unite in praising Cape May as a delightful summer resortT This la quite enough to rerire the tide of sumi travel In that direction, which has been languishing since Atlantic City became ' established, and so Philadelphia will hare two popular seaside resort* within easy reach, instead of one. This is the advantage of the city as well Sato the benefit of the citizen*, and, therefore, ia to be encouraged. Moreover, pwWs- nutnjaat Cape May are ou a much higher plane—than the one they hare deserndrd-rto at Atlantic CHy.— /‘AiladelpAw fVra.af DaUcttn.
