MoxT cllinC Utrc and ►mall, andefective to a greater or lemier e in ao placing tbe name* of atrreU that ••he who runa may read.'' Cape May ' particularly at fault in thia matter i the names of her streets arc left to t! imagination of tbe visitor within 01 gates, pc' to bla chance of obtaining them from some one by Inquiry. U these circumstances the force of k bus), ness advertisement containing i and number of advertiser Is materially - lessened, because In, thU era of hurry and Impatience people are not in. the habit of masting time in bunting foi somebody to patronise m hen the search becomes a difficult matter. It ci inconvenience In many ways, and it Is one of those little improvements which •our clty fathers should order, without delay. Them: are a great many observant men who hare commented favorably upon the improvement in their btudnras of this season over that of last and uiion this basis hare’ promised great things for our resort in tbe future. T1 causes of our boom this summer hat been three in number, the favorable weather, the promise of a new railroad and publicity given the resort because of President Harrison's residence. "Tbe new railroad will certainly be completed before naxt season" said Mr. Hackett, assistant General Ticket Agent of the West Jersey Railroad, on Sunday, “and this w]ll excite competition resulting in cheaper fares on both rdhda. Excursion parties will be catered more and the iiatronage to the res will be wonderfully increased.” -added, “ThU season was a booming oue, but next aeaaan will exceed anything ever yet known here.” We hope he may prove a sure enough prophet, ami wi believe he will. The prospects are bright.

The electrical convention is n< session at the Stockton, and almost all kinds of electrical appliances and apparatus are on exhibition. The mysterious electricity is the power of tbe age and Its use has become so wide and diversified as to be common, yet it Is constantly extending lu domain, and, perhaps, before the dose of the century will become a necessity in some form another to almost every household. The convention and the exposition will prove most instructive to our summer visitors, and will furnish them tbe opportunity to get valuable information upon the pi greaa of electrical invention and appliance*., We extend a hearty welcome the gentlemen who compose the convention and hope they may enjoy their visit to this Queen of resorts, and carry i plaaaanf impressions. We have some among them w bo are making their first visit to Cape May, and they have expressed themselves as greatly pleased with the resort. We hope this first impression may be a lasting one.

Ik writing abont the naming of tbe streets, the thought suggested Itself that Cape May la one of those cities which has upon It stilt, the Imprint 6f the oldfashioned patriotism and pride in great men of tbe nation. Her streets, most of them named many yean ago, when the nation was young and lusty \and ready to crow upon the slightest

after the heroes of the early conflicts and history: Forexampic, we have Ai ington. Lafayette, Decatur, Jrflei Perry, Jackson, and Madison stnets and more recently Grant street. There is a North street named during the war Hughes street named after one of the oldest Cspe Msy families. Two whose names have been suggested by our location are Ocean and Beach avenue, and there is a Mansion street, upon which there Is not the vestige of a mansion, it being a street devoted entirely to business. Our hotels have Indicated to some extent this latent patriotism or pride of country, in the names, Stockton, named after Commodore Stockton, whose full ' length portrait adorns the rotunda, Columbia, Lafayette, Congress and Unitsd States. These names are pleasant momentoes of a time when the great men of the halloa not only were honored in this manner, but counted it one of chiefest of pleasures to visit this favored
