This Formosa stamp is *o far a gvnnine stamp that it was originally prudncol for poedal uses, but, as a matter of fact, the intention was never carried out, so It has hern impossible to obtain specimen* authenticated by a postmark. As philatelists would say, it hoe never been more than an "i-saay." However, these stamp* were utilized as railway tickets on the Formosan government railway line, and as fast aa nsed they were destroyed. The supply issued for this purpose has liceu exhausted. When the stamp was first "essayed" it brought as high a* sixpence in London, and of late collectors have been paying $2-50 for single speciincna. Of coarse almost any price can be demanded and will be | wid for one of these stamps.
