It would probably prove to be a profitable thing If Cape May would arrange to send to Chicago daring the ooiitiauiuoe of the World's Fair next year, a representative of education and ability to descant upon Cape May's advantages, lie should be provided with an abundance of literature and illustrations and everything needed to make this mission a success. We nominate Thomas Neal, Jr., for the post.
Saturday, August Oth, will close with the great event of the season, the Hauler Testimonial. The public affection and appreciation for the great leader brings to these entertainments each year, many who do not attend at Other times and lead to a large and remarkable attendance. Special leatures are always Introduced which prove partic ularly interesting and amusing and the music swells foilh as never Defon fall harmony and expression. Year after year the same thing, occurring,-good and bad. Accidents of all kinds are constantly taking place, and yet few attempt to dangers, guided by knowledge gained by experience. Experience, in fact, sactna to go for nothing. Though bun. drt-de, for Instance, be drowned this season at various watering places, hundreds more will, in all probability, retire from the earth-world next acai the same manner and under the conditiona. It la not the people who cannot swim nor those who know nothing about the dangers of going beyond their depth who are drowned, bat It is in moat Instances tbe swiuituere;. the experts. They press forward over tbe rolling billows, rejoicing in their prowess and" their skill and exhilarated by tbe bracing air, and are soon so far out that only extraordinary efforts can save them, If anything deprives them of the ability to - save themselves, and tbe chances are abont eight to one that they will abandon the earth-world anil fly to some other not so well known to us. Hot there Is no occasion for even awlmmere to go out beyond a depth, in level water, of four feet. All tbe swimming, floating, diving,) and other gymnastics which are needed, can be obtained comfortably and safely at this depth snd the spectator* are relieved of all i iety. But why should auythlug written or said? Tbe swimmers not heed it and this very day you see some of them breasting tbe billc perhaps into the very channel Itself and some day the accident which has often occurred before will occur again.

Cape May la pretty well supplied
with aniuaemcuts now, but there ■ ways those who are clamoring for
thing more snd something new. It
seems o<ld to us that people a
maud so much excitemeut snd repetition of home pleasures at the seashore, when the ostensible purpose for which they come Is rest. Since rest la to be best obtained by change, not only of scenery but of occupation and enjoyment, It would teem that something different from the allthe-ycar rootine would be sought. It Is esady found at the seashore, and particularly at Cape May. The sounds and a rowing, tailing or fish lug trip upon them gives the keenest enjoyment to most people, fit seems to stimulate every nerve snd every fibre of one's being, and afterward to permit one to see and enjoy the world room brightly and more Intensely than before. Tbe surf bath and its as aoclations are very thoroughly enjoyable and prodnetive of lasting benefit to all who moderately indulge iu it. The hotel bops are features which belong to the seashore and ate fitting accompaniments to tbe bright, pleasing Incidents which are common to life at the chore. Nowhere are they more enjoyable or more beautiful than here. For years sod years have Caps May' hotel bops been enjoyed snd looked back upon by happy participants as dreams of summer life and beauty. Forty years ago the renowned Uaasler began bis career here In furnishing music for graceful dancer* at old White Hall, where tbe “Cape May hop" had H'a birth and now what wondrous gathering* have they become. Tbe base ball of more recent yeara has proven a great attract loo. The teams, composed of aome of tbe finest yonng men, have played with great skill and have aroused great local pride, and then they fight their battle* under the magic name—Cap* Miy. All these things have attracted to the games a Urge fob lowing, and have constituted them oue of the pleasure* of Cape May, one ol the fixed, reguUr incidents of this fixed snd reguUr resort, which is already gathering iu trediUooe snd its
