the start.
The President bears the strain that he is subject to remarkably well, and the members of the party marvel ad

He was enthusiastically welcomed every where on his trip, and his speeches were greeted with hearty applause. He has the happy faculty, of "localizing" hit talks, and thus bringing himself at oner into the sympathies of his auditors. Tuesday he traversed a part of Massachusetts and New Hampshire, and went through Maine as far as Augusta, where he was the guest of Governor Hill. Trenton. N. J. (Special)—Mrs. John G. Ford, of 446 East Hanover Street, showed no outward sign of fear when she discovered a man trying to break into her bedroom. Instead of fainting and screaming, she went quietly to a bureau drawer and secured a pistol. The burglar had barely entered the house when he was confronted with the weapon in the hands of Mrs. Fftrd. who, save for the servants, had been alone in the house. "Throw up your hands and don’t move, or you're a dead man!” commanded Mrs. Ford.
