A Friend ol Good Marksmanship. There is unusual interest among the riflemen, national and state, this year, and the annual contest* of the year will attract wide attention. United Stales Senator John F. Dryden.of New Jersey, is more than any other person responsible for the lively interest in rifle shooting at tbri time. It was through Senator Drydcn's etlorU that the army appropriation* bill passed by the last Congress contained a clause authorising for the first time "a national trophy, medals and other prizes to be provided for and contested for annually • • • by tffe army and national guard or organised militia of the several states ami territories and of the District of Columbia." Senator Dryden also re&ntly presented a handsome trophy to be contended for under the auspices of the New Jersey State Rifle Association at Sea Girt, N. J. The Dryden trophy cost about $3,000. Teams from the army uf the Uni ted‘States and from the militia of the various states and territories mty compete at the annual contests for this trophy. The first competition will be in September.

Will Not Rebuild Hotel.

Mrs. John M. Rogers, owner of the Maripe Villa, which was destroyed by tire In March riot, and the Albert and Tathem cottages, which were almost wholly damaged at the same time, has decided not to rebuild the Marine Villa Hotel, s^foct which to deeply regretted by the citizens of Cape May. Mrs. Rogers feels that she hxs been outraged by the Inaura no* company by their failure to pay her the amount she, believes the fire damaged the cottages. The Marine Vllri risks were tattled after some delay, but It was only last week that the Albert ootlage risk was adjusted, and then the amount was so small that Mrs. Rogers concluded not to rebuild her hotel
