OX TUESDAY next the voters of th» county, especially the Republicans, trill choose their candidate for the State Senate, and every thing now points to an almost unanimous election of Assemblyman Lewis M. Cresse. The Hand fortes are getting discouraged, but are keeping up a good bluff. They are making the general statements that they will win, but when pinned down to fact* can not verify their claims, and it is known among the Hand followers That they only expect to win! if they will at all by the narrow margin of from # to votes. They count on carrying every division in the county except part of Middle and Dermis Township* On the other side, the Cresse adherents expect to carry every place but South Cape May, which has vote. Mr. Miller'* opinion stated that the saAemunent value* made by Mr. Edmund*arc illegal entirely, acd that if he wa* authorised by any members of Coundl to make the changes In these valuations: that any person* who gave him authority aa mem tiers .of Council exceeded their right in the law, and that, therefore, the whole proceeding of cbdng'ng the tax hooks was entirely illegal.
