The Republican National Convention met in Chicago at noon yesterday- To-day Theodore Rooaevelt. of New York. wUl be unanimously nominated for President of the United Staten. In all-probability 0.SSenator Charles Warren Fairbanka, of Indiana, will be nominated for Vice Preaident Two other persona are possibilities for the Utter nomination. Speaker Joseph G. Cannon, of the House o' Repi tires, and Robert R. Hitt, both congress men from Illinois. Change In Judiciary.

Last Thursday at Trenton, ViceChancellor Alfred Reed was sworn in as an Associate Justice of the New Jersey System Court, a position which Justice Reed previously held. He is kindir remembered here by onr people bees use he formerly presided over the tape May Courts when on this circuit. He was succeeded as Vice-chancellor by Lindley M. Garrison, who is well known at Cape Msy but who is now a Jersey City lawyer. The new Vice-chancellor is a brother of Justice Chas. E. Garrison

Trip on Pilot Boat. About seventy-five persons enjoyed a trip to Philadelphia last Friday on the pilot boat ••Philadelphia.” The stdhmwas in charge of of Councilman Lewis Sayre. Now In Chicago. The New Jersey delegation to the Republican National Convention left Philadelphia last Saturday afternoon for Chicago. In the party were Congressman Gardner, Senator Minch, of Cumberiand County, who represent the district delegatee, and Senator Lewis M. Create, of this county, who is an alternate to the convention.

The Swiss Confederated railways are seriously considering s project for boring s tunnel tinder the Brunlg to Interlaken In the Alps, says a Berlin dispatch to the Loudon Standard. A cogwheel railway, which cannot be need in winter, is the only means of traveling over the peas at present.
