A recital of which the chief number will be Tennyson's Enoch Arden, with the musical setting by Richard Strautu, will be given lor tbe benefit of tbe Church of the Advent in the East Parlor of the Stockton on next Wednesday evening July 90. The poem, which appeared just forty years ago. has never lost lu sweet and serious charm to the lovers of Tennyson. Some yean ago Richard Strauss wrote and dedicated to Ernest Von Poeean, one of Germany's foremost actors, a musical melodrama interpreting the poem. Il was first produced in this country in 1900 and though frequently beard since Iu the larger ciDen, runs no risk of becoming a fad, since tbe difficulties of the music offer sufficient obstacles to deter the amateur. Tbe reading upon this occasion will be given by Mias Clarice Vallette assisted by Miss Thompson at the piano. Tbe remainder of tbe programme will be excel lenity filled.
