VOTERS WANT EFFICIENT COUNTY CLERK RE-ELECTED.
HIS CARE PLEASES EVERYBODY
raln»Laktn|c In Keeping Kea«>r*l> and Selecting Aitaiatanta HU Claim ft»r Second Term..
That Dr. Julios Way. the present county clerk, will meet the wishes of the great majority of the people of Cape Hay county, aud become again their candidate for reelection in November, there la no doubt. He has been importuned by many leading people having business with the county clerk's office to allow hitparlf to be again voted for. and has it is said, consented to be a candidate for the position again. He Dan served the county well In that capacity, U a splendidly equipped official, and has in-tailed in the office a force of vfficient assistants, beaded by Deputy Clerk John Sayre, all of whom are capable and flaiustaking. There Is no office where carefulness should be so strictly observed as this one. where county records must be kept, not only for the present, but for all time. The County Clerk has been careful to secure persons for copyist* who write plain, legible hands, and he himself fs gifted in the same way. He l* possessed of an education which fits him not only generally, but thoroughly technically for the office. He is also one of Ike public spirited citizens of the county, and one whose carefulness in office for the first term dmerva> recognition and commendation by re-election.
ANOTHER COUNTY ROAD. Ocean Cltj Turnpike CVimplrled and Accepted by Kreeholdera. The road committee of the Hoard of Freeholders has accepted from Robert E. Hand, the contractor, the Ocean City turnpike from Petersburg to Ocean City. The Board at its last meeting unanimously voted to charge Contractor Hand for the road the WO per day penalty for delinquency after July 38. As the Board had already given him about two months' grace, notwithstanding the fact that the contract called for a WO per day penalty, there will be no doubt about the justice of the charge of upwards of WOO which will now be The county board and State Road Commissioner Budd will go over the road on Friday to decide whether It comes up to State requirement, and. if it does, the State will pay one-third its coax.
Cape May for Stokes. As the day for the primaries approach* the news comes from all sections of the county that all Republicans are for ex-Sea-ator Edward Casper Stokes, of Cumberland county,, for governor, in common with Republicans of the rent of the State The leader of the Republicans In the county, Senator Lewis M. Crease, leads la the Stokes movement, and even those who were so bitter against Senator Stokes and Crease lest Fall are falling In line as a matter of course.but they would gladly join _ V , sogtber candidate If he had any chanoaa ^ V-o&uccese. But thla element of small numbers is nearly extinct.
Bright Gaining Strength. • Owing to the fact that no residaot of Fire Mile Beach has heretofore been honored by a Cape May county elective office, there is a general feeling toward to naming of W. Barry Bright, collector and treasurer of Holly Beach, for Sheriff by the Republicans.
