WILL, t'.MTK FACTIONS. Carious Proposition of an Kx-Hoss to

Regs I a | suit Power.

Notwithstanding the fact that' during the last tbrrr years In escb of the election* which been held the peogle how emphatically said y,»i they did not further desire as a leader the mall who (or six years. U> last year, repr, eeulad Ibis county in the Mute Senate, ami this desire has been greatly broadened by the Republicans because of the sctlous of this same man In managing the campaign for the Democratic ticket last fall, sad »ince be has gone over to the Democrats there has bean harmony in the party under the leadership of Senator Lewis M. Crasae. Now with astounding “gall" this same man again attempts to “butt in” and offer through Camden Connty leaders, that be will fix up what he alleges are factional differences in the Republican party In Cape May Connty. if be Is given the privilege oDnamlng the Republican candidate for sheriff this fall. ThD t» a ludicrous proposition, as the Republicans of Gape May County are perfectly able to chooee their own candidate for sheriff and when the primaries are held In November th*y will say so In such emphatic terms that It wifi be of no use for this ex-senator to at* tempt tp stir up trouble as be will not be In a pool lion to accomplish anything by it. His particular desire is to defeat the ifaan who will be nominated by the Republicans for connty clerk end bis well-known political methods would be used simply to trade with the Democrats rotes for their candidate for clerk in return for votes which they might be able to deliver to him for the man he might select for sheriff. The Republicans of the county will spnrn any proposition ne may make and they knot that when be talks of compromise that be Is In no position to gain his point- if be were, be would never appeal for compromise bat go ahead In his “rule or '' way and select the man whom be thought be could elect. The Republicans of Cape May Connty need no recently con verted Democratic schemers to help them ilect their candidate* and they will nominate a good ticket at the convention which

will be held this fall

NKW ENACTMENT IX WILL CASE. The Court KeTuara to Allow Mrs.

Wheaton Counsel Fee*.

A new enactment in the now famons Wheaton will case has come to light, and this time appears lo be s great victory for the heir. Mrs. Daniel Steelman, of Camden, and a crushing blow to the widow, 'Mrs. Philip M. Wheaton, who Is now occupying

the old homestead at Ocean City.

The will has now been in the courts for over two /ears, owing to the contest of the widow, and embraces the snm of gftKVU). which was left to Mis. Daniel Steelman, a daughter by Philip Steelman's first wife. The widow, however, was left •100 a month as long as she remained a widow, and the use of the old homestead until her death. After a battle royal of two years ia the Cape May County Courts a verdict was rendered In favor of the heir, wbiab decision has been appealed from by the widow to the higher courts. At the conclusion of the earn in the lower court* the attorney* for Mrs. Wheaton filed a claim for expenses, and Judge Voorbees lias jost Hied sn answer which seems highly satisfactory to the heir and a disappointment to the w idow, in that the latter will have to pay probably two tbonaanddollars of tbs expenses of the recent contest i&d will have to pay all the expenses of father

ic words of Judge Vocrhees relating to the claim of the widow are as follows: I therefore reach the conclusion that the aveatrix had reasonable cause for filing be caveat, but did not have reasonable ansa for continuing the coolest after the croes-examlnation of Dr. Abbott. Haring reached this conclusion the aavsstrix ia entitled to be allowed her caste and expenof the contest up to the time of the cross-examination of Dr. Abbott, but not afterwards, and I will sign an order to that effect. I will also allow a eonnsel fee of one thousand dollars to the cavaatrlx. which I believe to be adequate for the conduct of the case up to and including the testimony of Dr. Abbott." Jost what effect the decision will have on the future actions of the contestant remains to be seen, bet It is probable that i the expenses will fall heavily on the widow an early settlement of the case will

be the result.
