FARMER STRUCK BY TRAIN
AGED SAHUEL SAYRE DEAD AS RESULT OF ACCIDENT.

Samuel Sears, a well-known resident of Green Creek, was struck by tne express train on the Atlantic City Railroad at Rio Grande on Friday morning last and was so badly Injured that be was tauten to Cooper Hospital, Camden, where he died at 8 p. m. It seems that the engine of the regular express train that morning had Become disabled at the Court House and another one had been sent to bring down the train and as there was no turn-table at Coart House the special engine wss running tender first and in this way Mr. Sears was somewhat deceived as to the swiftness of tne train and as be reached the track his horses were struck and instantly killed. Mr Sears was seventy years of age and ^ was the father of Mrs. Shaw, wife of‘Rev. James Shaw, a Methodist minister at Eldora. " ^ He was a member of Arbatu* I<odge Xo. '.70, F. & A. M. of Court House. The funeral occurred from bis late home ok . * Tuesday afternoon, the Rev. J. W. Caine‘pastor of the Baptist Church officiating. Masonic rites were used at the grave.

Falls Victim.
What proved to be a sad accident happened at Rio Grande on Thursday morning, when Mr. John Husted an engineer of Philadelphia while on a gunning trip through the sounds was accidently kicked by the discharge of his own gun which resulted In his death on Saturday. Mr. Hasted In 'company with William Harris left their home early in the morning in quest of meadow birds, and proceeded at once to the sounds where a boat procured, on getting the boat in readiness to start on the trip, somehow Mr. Husted lowered*his gun. the stalk of It renting on his stomach, and before be was aware of the fact the gnu accidently was discharged, this, of course caused it strike the man with mnch force la the stomach, causing severe pains. He was taken home and at first thought only slightly injured, but he gradually grewworse, and on Saturday finally snccombcd- > his Injuries. *■ Later on It was discovered that Mr. Husted had severed a small Intestine which was the direct cause of his death. He was 44 years of age and a resident of Philadelphia. FIRE FIGHTERS REMEMBERED. Dinner Tendered Them by Miss Halpln of Congress Hall. Mias R. Halpin. proprietress of Congress Hall, tendered a dinner to the mambers of the fire department, to the police and to the members of the local press on Thursday evening last which was primarily given as an appreciation of the services of the department at the recent fire in that hotel. So quietly did the department work that of the hotel foil of guests not more than ten or fifteen knew that a fire was burning near them. A general good time was bad and everybody seemed to enjoy the event in the spirit in which it was given.

Ware, who died at the home of her parents on Tuesday of last week, occurred ou last Friday afternoon the services being conducted by Rev. Charles D. Parker, York, Pa, During the morning between 10 and 12 o’clock a large number of friends viewed the remains.! The interment was made in Cold Spring Presbyterian church Cemetery.

Death of Mrs. William Essen. Mrs. Essen, widow of tbe late William Essen, died at six o’clock yesterday morning at tbe borne of her daughter, Mrs. Richard C.
