The fire started about 8 o'clock In the basement of tbe North Packing company. which occupied the store part of the building. Sixty girls who were on tbe stage rehearsing for the entertainment to be glreo at tbe Congregational fair narrowly escaped from-tbe burning theater. An explosion of an oil tank in tbe basement helped to spread the fire. Part of tbe building waa saved. Tbe loss was divided between tbe building, the North 1‘acklng company and Fred E.
