Y„ April 1L —James klalloy, a wall known fisherman of Barry town, started across the Hudson river In a rowboat at that ptare last night with six Polanders aud before reaching the other shore the boat capalseil, and Malloy and four of the Polauders were drowned. The party of Inlanders arrived at Barry town from Albany and v bound for L'Uter Landing, directly oppoalte Barrytowu. Tb* little steamer that waa to have conveyed them across the river had departed, and as there were no large boats In the water Malloy offered to take them to their destination in hla tklff, a small boat that waa not capable of carrying three men wltbout dangur of being sunk. Tbe Polauders accepted tb* invitation of Malloy, aud all six got In the little skiff, making* a crew of seven man. A strong flood tide was running and a heavy wind blowing from the north, making tbe river exceptionally rough. When the boat waa about twothlrda across the river tbe people on the Barrytowu shore heard cries and shrieks for help and Immediately realised that something bad happened. Two young men, sons of Nathan Griffin of Ulster Landing, pot out in a rowboat and succeeded in rescuing two of the Polauders, who were found clinging to the keel of the overturned skiff. They were taken ashore and stated that four of their countrymen and an American had been drowned. The rescued men were unable to give the name* of the drowned persons.
