Glorious weather ushered In tbe beginning of tbe celebration*, and all factories, *bops and office* of every description were closed. Tbe first disturbances occurred wben a procession of several thousand workmen, carrying red flag*, marched along ZeUxna street. Tbe demonstration was quite orderly and proceeded without molestation for seme distance. Suddenly several squadrons of uhlans appeared, but without Interfering with tbe procession, and took up a position along tbe sidewalk* while tbe workmen passed through tbe line*. Then s company of Infantry approached from the front, and 1 named I ately the cavalry charged Into the procession. driving It with the flats of their swords Into a dlsorgauUed maas. When tbe cavalry withdrew the Infantry fired a volley, wher.-upon the demonstrator* turned and fled. Tbe infantry continued to discharge volleys Into tbe retreating, shrieking multitude. Thirty-one person* were killed and many wounded, and of tbe latter It is believed that fifteen will die. The shooting is described having been quite unprovoked. It has aroused tbe most Intense Indignation among all Classes In Warsaw. Miss Wood ebargs* that tbe defendants by ‘’force and threats" secured from her love letters which, ah* alleges, were written to her by Senator Platt of New Tort These letter*, the toys In her charges, formed tbe basis of a book tbs manuscript for which she had completed and for tbe publication of which she bad contracted with a publisher. Miss Wood alleges that fonnei Postmaster General Wynne met her at a hotel in Washington, where be detained her for two day* and by threats and force took from her the alleged love letter*. Rbe say* Mr. Wynne wa* accompanied by two men, one of whom gave hi* name a* Hummel. Miss Wood says she was detained forcibly at a -hotel for two days and that Miller persecuted her during th# two days and finally forced her to sign papers which purported to be two receipt* for $10,000 each and attached to affidavits reciting that abe would not reveal anything that had occurred and wonjd not In any way communicate with tbe parties to the transaction. For all of which, Mlaa Wood says she bad been damaged to tbe extent ol $35,000 and asks tbe court to render bei a Judgment to that amount.

Tbe first bomb throwing occurred at 925 o'clock last night, wben a bomb was thrown into a Oossack patrol near tbe Vienna station. Three Cossacks and one policeman were killed and two ladies wbo were leaving tbe station at tbe time were severely wounded by tbe explosion of tbe bomb. Cossacks and Infantry fined a number of volleys, and It is reported that many persons were killed or wounded. Troops surround tbe whole of tbe disturbed neighborhood. Only passenger trains are leaving Warsaw, and these are crowded with refugees and manned by officials of tbe engineering department*, ail tbe engine drivers, firemen and porters baring quit work. The other man was only slightly hurt It Is believed the men were terrorists preparing the bomb for use when It exploded. An inquiry Into the cause of the explosion Is bring mads by-the police.
