RED FLAGOF REVOLT Russian Poland In Faraasnt at Loda Blaughtsr. WARSAW IS IX STATE OF SIEGE.

Martial Law at L<Mla—Mok Flskt ta4ar Klaa of Aaarvkr Maar Barrlca4ro—MortoaU by Troopa • aa4 tbr Foltr*. ST. PETBR8BURQ. June 27. — Tba red ditK of revolt lum breu ralsod at Warsaw. Kovno and otLer places In Kuulan I’olund out of syiaputLy with the victim* of the rlottnc at IxxU. and. ao far a* these cl tic* are concerood. the situation almost approaches the dignity of o|>eii retielllon. Warsaw la In a state of sleg*. Pa trola of cavalry »tid Infantry are moving In every street. A general atrike was preceded by attempts at red flag demonstrations, but tGe Coaaacka charged and dlai>oraed the rioters with their n-hlps. On Veronla street a auilen crowd mads a stand, and a patrol

tired.

Many bakera bars joined tho workmen, and Warsaw is threatened with a bread famine. In some of the streets the workman threw up barricades to resist the troops. All the Polish newspap.Ts hare ttson forbidden to Issoe any editions. At Kovno a mob of a thousand persons aurrounded and attacked the police station and the govarnor general's palace. All the windows wars broken before the rioters were overpowered by the police. Five policemen were wounded. At Warsaw disorderly crowds thronged the atreetm. They have erected bar^ iicades at Ogrodowa. Krochmalms and Wren la streets, on top of which they placed red flag. The police and soldiers stormed these barricades, and ten persons were wounded by bullets or bayonets. Another affray took place at Zelacna street where Coesacks charged the crowd and wounded three persona. In the. central market a crowd attacked a patrol with revolvers, to which the patrol replied with volleys. wounding three persons and killtng a boy. Five workmen who had refused to strike were stabbed to death by their comradeo. Revolutionary • proclamations have been pouted on the walla, and 200 person- have been arredted. Since the proclamation of mgrtlal law at Lodi the situs Hoe has become quieter. The rumor of an approaching massacre of Jaws has caused 20.000 Jews to leava the town. Boslneed U at a standstill, and all traffic baa bean stopped. A case of disaffection among the troopa was reported when tbs officers of one regiment Informed their commander that they would refuse to Are on defenseless peoole. The regiment was at once transferred to another

place.

Since the arrival of re-enforcements actual fighting In Lodi has stopped, but the outbreak la by no means quelled, and fresh cotlUicns are expected momentarily. The city resemblae a shambles, and the terrible scene* of the l^st three day* will never be wiped from tbe memory of the Polish people. Altogether there are ten regiments encamped In Lodz. The fighting spirit of the people la folly aroused. They have tasted blood and want more. Certainly the revolutionary spirit is abroad. It Is quite Impossible to give tbe exact number of killed and of wounded, as reporta vary according to the quarter from which they are obtained. Certainly tbe killed will be over 100, possibly 200. end the wounded fire time* as many. An official report eajrs that the number of casualties was - largely Increased by tbe neglect of parsons to remain Indoors and who inalst«d on looking out of doors and windows rrfaen volleys ware being fired toy soldiers on rioters. Residents of the city aay they received no orders to remain indoors. Tbe present trouble began at Lods |ait week after the funeral of tbs rieof tba conflict between troopa and “ • tbe prerioua Sunday.
