6UNDAY SCHOOL LESSON. Quarterly Review — International Sunday School Lessor for March 18. QUARTERLY BE /IEW LESSON. BY REV. WILLIAM EVANS. H. D. (Dtreciur Biblical Depa'Unant of tbs Moody Blb.« instlluu, iblcago. UBI--CUU LacIutst of the Cook County I Chicago) Sunday School Asao-

(Copyright. ISOS, b Golden Text At Galilee leaching In preaching the lioej.

Certainly no mistake can be made making all the lessons of the quarter center around tbe person and work of Christ. Indeed tbe lessons to Uro year of 190b ere taken up solely with the life of our Lord at reveals! In the Orel three gospel accounts. Christ as Saviour, leacher, and Worker—as Ssvlour, In His relation to sinners. He Is to be sought; as Teacher. In relation to disciples. He Is to be obeyed and followed; ns Worker. In His relation to the needy. He Is the ample of all to be followed In ben

cence and philanthropy.

Jesus as a Ssvlour. T Jesus Is the only man known in history who was born with specific reference to the sin of the human race, was not a moralist, not a reformer, a philanthropist, at least not primarily so; He came to be man's Saviour. Jesus did not come Into the world to teach men how to live, nor how t.i die; He came to show them bow to get rid of their tins. HU name wa* the Insignia of HU office—"Jesus, for He shell save the people from their sins." The world has no other sucb Saviour; "Nellher U their salvation In any other: for there is none other name given under heaven among man whereby we must be saved." A IMvine-Humsn Saviour. Our lessons teach us the perfect equipment of Christ for such a He was a perfect man. He had feet human nature with all Its stnlesa Infirmities He was bom of a woman He grew aa other boys grow; He wai subject to hunger, thirst, waarlnesj pain; He slept, cried, suffered, died. He was subjected to temptations Jus' ss we are. yet without yielding to them. If He was to be tbe Saviour of the human race, then “It behooved Hho to be made in all things like unto brethren.” There U not a note In the great organ of our humanity whieo. when touched, does not produce s sympathetic response In the mighty range and scope of our Lord's being, saving the Jarring discord of sin.

Jesus Was Dlvlna

Not merely In the sense that we are all divine. He possessed a deity to which no mere human being could lay claim. We "become" tons of God (John 1:12). Jeans never "became" sucb: He always "was" the eternal and only-begotten Son of the Father. Aa a child He was "bom;" but as s Bon He was "given” (Isa. 9:6). His miraculous birth; His power to perform works which nore other man did. save In a delegated power; His power over sickness, disease. demons, Satan, and death; His prescience. omniscience, omnipotence; His power over man to save, over demons to cast them oqt. ov*» nature to control It—these are incontrovertible evidences of thy deity of the Christ. And inch a redeemer if God * appointed Saviour of the world. nan can come to the Father, gain an entrance Into Heaven, spend an eternity of bliss wltn God. the angels, and the spirits of Just men made perfect, unless It be through Him Who was "God manifest In ths flesh.”

Christ as a Teacher.

He was the greatest teacher the world has ever known. He was "the teacher come irom G>d." He alone perfectly revea td the Father. Hia teaching was wllh absolute "authority, and not as the Scribes." Whatmay be sajd with reference to the voluntary limitations of Christ in oth- ■ respects. It cannot. It must not he said that He waa limited In His teaching. God "gave not the Spirit by iure onto Him” la this respect comments were not governed by popular opinions, but by direct revelation from the Father. Cnrist made uo mistakes In His teaching. Ths dlsdof Jesus Christ will therefore On 1 In His word and teachings the ultimate authority In matters of faith and practice. When Jews has spoken the last word on any question of faith or practice there ts nothing more to bo said on that subject. Hie words are the com of final appeal. They form standard both here and hereafter —"the word that I have spoken, the shall Judge him In the last day.” It U because Jesus waa God. divine, deity, that His words have this final and ultimate authority. We must not
