there is different from what it Jl* in all other cities, and the telephone company has its perpetual franchise and its irrepealable contract to fall back upon. No wonder Camden is now taking a lively interest in limited franchises. No wonder it la animadverting against the stupidity of granting franchise rights to private corporail on* under general ordinances. No wonder iu papers are saying that a busineas-kike rule would require a special bargain for each franchise, tbe city to gel some return in cash or aer vioa, and a lime limit when the franchise is to lapse if no work has been done. Municipalities that giveaway franchises in perpetuity get their eyes
