A graduate of the New York College of Pharmacy, Fred. D. Doolittle has been in Fai Rockaway for the last 20years, coming here in 1867 as clerk in the pharmacy of D H. Jennings, in the old Wynn Building. After being in the employ of Mr. Jennings for 9 years, Mr. Doolittle went into business for himself ii: the Campbell Building in 1896, and five yean later purchased the drug bus! of Mr. William Keeler. Mr. and Mrs. John D. Johnson, Jr., and their sweet little babe, of Mt. Holly, N. J., are enjoying a visit with Mrs. Johnson's parents, Judge and Mr*. Hildreth, who passed the autumn with Mr. and Mrs. Thomas W. Eastwick, at their Jaokson street home, while wailing for the putting of their Washington street residence in order, it having been damaged by fire early in the summer. They moved into it

The annual sessions of the Grand Ixxige, I. O. O. F., of New Jersey, and the Grand Encampment, I. O. O. F., of New Jersey, will take place in Trenton, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thur— day, of next week. It I* expected that re than 600 delegates will attend the lions ol the two bodies. The Grai.d Encampment will meet Tuesday, and the Grand Ixxige Wednesday and Thursday. of the principal matter* to come before the session of the Grand Encampment will be that of changing the date of the sessions and the location. It is dwired by many of the members to meet semi-annually in different parts of the Bute, the argument being advanced that this plan will tend lo increase interest in Ibis branch of Odd Fellowship. The only office for which there is a contest is that of grand junior warden. Hlepben Hchleif, of Plainfield, and Dr. John H. Duffield, of Phillipsburg, are in the lead for the office. Frank Jummel, of Trenton, has no opposition for grand The matter of the location of the pro- ' Odd Fellows' home for the aged and Indigent members will be an important matter to be considered by the grand lodge. The home association, which is in charge of the Odd Fellows’ home in Trenton, has offered to sell the property to the grand lodge for fI5,000. There is also a contest for grand secretary between Harry 8. Pine, of Trenton, the present incumbent, and Frank S-Jum. mell, also of Trenton. The chances favor the election of SecreUry Pine, the manner in which he has fulfilled the duties of the position of the past year proving very satisfactory. Grand Sire E. 8. Where la the Alcove V One day last week, a writer in the Evening Bulletin gave quite an interesting letter on the subject of strong drink, and among other thing* discussed the evolution of the ooclall, in which be mentioned the fact that Daniel Webster and Henry Clay would oil and sip their oockuils in an alcove off Ibe bar, which is yet to be seen in the “old rickety hotel still standing at Cape May." I so. thinking the maker of that aUlement drew somewhat on his Imagination. Clay and Webster were seldom here, and when they wore, registered at Congress Hall or Mansion House, the latter bouse having received Henry Clay on his last visit in 18(7. Fire afterward destroyed both those house*. All the other hotel* of that day are no more. Ocean House, Centre House, Atlantic, National Hall, United States, Columbia, Delawtre House, Franklin House, Philadelphia House, Washington House, all existing only in imagination. Now where is the “rickety old hotel" in which Henry Clay and Daniel Webster used to eil and "tip their eoctailsT Where is that alcove sUll to be seen?
