In every community with w Inch he has been associated there has beed evidenced his happy faculty of picking out the w eak ihuiiD and instituting movements leading to their readjustment. About three years sgo lie was calk'd to Nesr Jerwy as Chief of tire Hureau of Kxaminalions in the State Department of Public Instruction nl Trenton. In this short time he has developed a rapidly growing recognition of the need for incorporation in the public school curriculum a more industrial . appreciation if the schools arc to meet the needs of the majority of the chil-

Only his most intimate have realized the hours of lime be haspent in thought and travel, studying the industrial needs of the New Jersey schools. Probably no one is more conversant with the need for solving this problem—namely, the pro|>er training of the teachers, and it is solely through his indefatigable effort* that it has been possible for these teachers to ob-

inJune,I9U7,a school w a* opened al Cape May, offering courses in agriculture, manual training and home economics. The SAMOns were held in the high school building which was generously offered by the Cape May Board of Education, and the school was supported financially by contribution* from the Cape May eity council and from citizens, Mr. Sensor himself oeing one of the largest contributors. Th classes w ere attended by forty enthusiastic teachers representing seven different states. In June* 1906, the school entered on its second year with the attendance more than doubled. A department of applied design w a* added, also laborath ry work in cooking, and additions, teachers were engaged in the depart menl of agriculture and manual training. No city in the slate could have beet, more liberal in Us enihiudasUe support Of the'-alm* and plans of the promoter of the summer school. Their gcuerou financial assistance accompanied by the reduced rales at the leading hotel* and the opportunities for social enjoyment which have been universally extended to the faculty and students in attendance at the school evidenced th. warm hospitality of the citizens o. Cape May. The general opinion as ex pressed by- the pupils of the school in conversation with them shows conclusively that no mistake was made in locating this school al • summer resort possessing the natural attractions which Cape May has. The prospects of increased attendance are such that present accommodations will soon be inadequate and a movement is being inaugurated by the leading citizens to procure a building ricbool of Industrial Arts and science.
